In automatic feed weighers of the kind in which loads are discharged at regular intervals of time by the use of a timer with cams which control the sequence of events in each weighing cycle, it is desirable that the weigh beam tilt within a predetermined correct period within each cycle. The invention provides an alarm device for attachment to such weighers whereby audible or visible warning is given of all weigh beam tiltings occurring outside the correct period. The device comprises a cam or cams adapted to be driven in synchronism with a cam of the timer, the or each cam of the device operating a switch to provide the alarm, the latter being actuated whether the tilt is early or late. The invention is described as used to control the feed of textile fibres in an apparatus which delivers the fibres from a hopper to a weighpan discharged by tipping (Fig. 1, not shown) in cycles under the control of a timer. In one form (not shown), the device according to the invention comprises two cams spaced apart circumferentially on a common shaft and two associated switches, one of which operates an early tilt alarm and the other a late tilt alarm, the said alarms being differently coloured lamps. The power supply to the lamps includes a further switch which is made momentarily when the weighbeam tilts and, if the late or early tilt alarm cam is then operating its switch, causes the appropriate alarm to be given. In the form shown the device comprises an arm 43 which descends with the weighpan and carries a feeler 34 which, if the tilt occurs outside the correct period, engages a flange 37 on a cam 33 of the device but which, if the tilt occurs within the correct period, enters a gap 38 in the flange. When the flange is engaged by the feeler, the latter operates a switch energizing the alarm lamp 44.

    • A terminal for use within an unknown regulatory domain, and a computer program product and method for configuring the terminal, are provided.     • There is set forth herein an imaging terminal having an image sensor array and a variable lens assembly for focusing an image onto the image sensor array. In one embodiment, an imaging terminal can include one or more focusing configuration selected from the group comprising a full set focusing configuration, a truncated set focusing configuration and a fixed focusing configuration. When a full set focusing configuration is active, a full set of candidate focus settings can be active when the imaging terminal determines a focus setting of the terminal responsively to a trigger signal activation. When a truncated set focusing configuration is active, a truncated range of candidate focus settings can be active when the imaging terminal determines a focus setting of the terminal responsively to a trigger signal activation. When a fixed focusing configuration is active, the focus setting of the imaging lens assembly can be fixed so that a predetermined lens assembly focus setting is active when a trigger signal is active.
