    • A clamp assembly for fastening and holding workpieces has a mandrel with flexible retaining fingers that are normally extended at a reference position for ease of insertion and removal from the workpiece, which assembly is secured to the workpiece by withdrawal of a spindle shaft coupled to the extending fingers to radially expand the fingers over a spreader bar. The spindle shaft and flexible fingers are maintained in the retracted and workpiece-securing position until rotation of an end cap disengages the secured retaining tabs from the spindle shaft and aligns them with planar surfaces for clamp recovery to the reference position by a biasing means.

    • A skid has a pair of laterally disposed base members and a first and a second support member for mounting a first and second piece of equipment requiring horizontal axial alignment, for example, a pump and a motor. At least one of the first and second support members is releaseably and adjustably vertically attachable to and between the pair of base members. For example, the first support member is a pair of cross members, wherein each of the cross members is attached at their ends substantially perpendicular to the base members forming a right parallelogram. Further, in this example, the second support member is vertically positioned relative to the base members such that a set of holes in each of the second support member and the pair of base members are horizontally aligned and fasteners are used to secure the two to each other in that position.

    • A tandem shale shaker having at least a base, at least one upper shaker screen, at least one lower shaker screen, a basket, an apparatus for vibrating the basket, at least one distribution conduit, a flowback pan, a flow director, and a distribution apparatus. The upper and lower shaker screens are releasably mounted on the basket. The at least one lower shaker screen is mounted at a level below the level of the at least one upper shaker screen and underlies the at least one upper shaker screen. The flowback pan is disposed between the at least one upper shaker screen and the at least one lower shaker screen and overlies at least a portion of the at least one lower shaker screen. The flowback pan directs the screened material passing through the at least one upper shaker screen to the at least one distribution conduit. The flow director selectively directs screened material flowing through the at least one distribution conduit (a) to the at least one lower shaker screen or (b) away from the at least one lower shaker screen. To operate the tandem shale shaker in parallel rather than in series, the distribution apparatus is set to selectively directs unscreened material to the at least one lower shaker screen. Further, the flow director directs the screened material from the at least one upper shaker screen away from the at least one lower shaker screen.

    • A screen retainer having adjustable tensioning includes a bushing and a tensioning device. The bushing has a center and a thickness that varies radially about the center. The tensioning device includes a surface adapted to receive the bushing, a spring, an engagement member, and at least one screen contact surface. The engagement member is coupled to the tensioning device and is adapted to engage the bushing. The engagement member can be eccentric with respect to the center of the bushing in an installed configuration. The at least one screen contact surface is adapted to engage and place a compressive force on the screen when the spring is placed in compression by an exertion of force by the engagement member on the bushing. The compressive force placed on the screen can be varied based at least in part on a rotation of the bushing on the surface.

    • There is provided a shale shaker having at least a base, a shaker screen, a basket, and a screen retainer for releasably mounting the shaker screen to the basket. The basket is mounted movably with respect to and on the base. The screen retainer has at least a cam surface and a tensioning device. The tensioning device has at least a bearing surface in contact with the cam surface, a spring responsive to the bearing surface, and at least one screen contact surface for engaging the shaker screen when the spring is placed in compression by the exertion of force by the cam surface on the bearing surface.
