摘要： The disclosure of this specification teaches the use of a regulator for a self-contained breathing apparatus for attachment to a user's back. The regulator includes a high pressure entrance thereto which is adapted to receive high pressure breathing gas from a source of breathing gas under pressure. A poppet is provided, which poppet has a valving surface. A conduit has a valve seat which is adapted to receive the valving surface thereover. A linkage operatively moves the poppet. Connected to the linkage is a spring loaded member exposed to ambient pressure. An elastomeric flexible member is attached to the ambient pressure member, which flexible member deforms under varying pressures between the ambient condition of the intermediate pressure which has been regulated by the regulator.

摘要： The disclosure of this specification illustrates and teaches the use of a self contained breathing apparatus for attachment to a user's back and incorporates a plurality of tanks having a manifold between them that is common to all with a single filling block leading thereto, and a reserve system mounted at one end thereof. The reserve system comprises a poppet valve which signals a loss in pressure by closing, after which it can then be actuated to open it for supplying the remaining portion of the reserve breathing gas through the manifold. The system also has a first and second stage regulator to provide regulated breathing gas to a user. The first stage regulator incorporates a dynamically balanced piston which is supported by an O Ring that is deformed through its cross section to provide movement to the valving piston. The entire system is encapsulated within a package or casing which can be opened along a parting line thereof and which is secured by over-center latches. The casing has a number of straps- and support members attached there-to forming a harness that a user places around his torso.

摘要： An apparatus is provided, the apparatus comprising: (i) a diode-pumped solid-state laser oscillator configured to generate a pulsed laser beam having predefined beam characteristics corresponding to a current setting selection of a controller; and (ii) an amplifier configured to amplify an energy and modify a beam profile of the pulse laser beam. A beam detector is coupled to the generated beam to monitor a combination of: (i) a beam pulse width; (ii) a beam diameter; and (iii) an energy level, and generates an error signal to be sent back as a feedback signal to the controller. The controller configures the current source to output a correction current to tune the DP SSL oscillator, the wave plate, and the first polarizer to rotate a correction polarization angle and adjust the energy amplification or temporal profile to within a defined performance tolerance.

摘要： A detector is provided for in-situ detection of damage to an optical fiber, the detector comprising: a laser light detection circuitry disposed at a terminal end of an optical fiber, the fiber coupled to an operating laser pulse generation system, to perform in-situ detection of damage occurring to the fiber, wherein the circuitry is calibrated to detect an energy level of a portion of optical signals sampled from generated laser pulses propagated in the fiber, wherein the circuitry converts the energy of the detected optical signals into electrical signals for processing to monitor a level of the optical signals to indicate normal operational integrity in the fiber or an occurrence of damage to the fiber according to a change in the energy level of the detected optical signals, and outputs a binary signal to a controller to shut off the system within a defined response time if damage is detected.

摘要： An apparatus for directing a laser beam to a workpiece surface includes a housing having a laser beam exit aperture. The apparatus further includes an output optical device configured to emit a converging laser beam. The converging laser beam is centered on an axis and is directed outward from the housing through the exit aperture toward a workpiece surface. A water nozzle outlet is arranged to discharge a stream of overlay water toward the workpiece surface. An air nozzle outlet is arranged to discharge a stream of air in a direction transverse to the axis at a location axially between the water nozzle and the exit aperture.
