[Class 35] A commutator in which the bars are embedded in moulded insulating material employs a metal ring which is first folded as in Fig. 1 and then, ih sequential operations, (1) pressed to form external angular depressions B3 and internal recesses with flat bottoms B4, (2) after annealing, perforated along the roots of the external depressions, the extruded metal forming either a single arc or one or more projections of other shape such as angularly disposed legs, both being shown in Fig. 4, and (3) further pressing to contract the ring, Fig. 5, so that the depressions B3 are closed up entirely and the internal recesses become parallel-sided as at B5. After cleaning, the ring, with a knurled or splined central ring to fit a shaft, is moulded under heat and pressure with insulating material. Subsequently, the surplus metal is turned off to separate the commutator bars, and an end flange may be formed and slit or drilled for armature connections.

摘要： A cement mortar or concrete comprises a mixture of Portland cement, granulated or powdered slate and granulated or powdered burnt blue bind or shale, gauged with the supernatant liquid obtained by mixing soap and an aqueous suspension of lime and allowing to settle. Powdered granite may be incorporated in the mixture. Blocks and the like which are moulded from the mixture may be faced with glass by moulding the mixture on to a glass sheet, preferably with a roughened surface, or by covering the outer surface of the block in the mould with glass sand and pouring thereon a layer of molten glass.

Electricity, supplying by a a prepayment electricity meter the coin actuated mechanism closes the switch and energizes a spring which assists the meter, and the integrating portion of the meter is connected to the quantity mechanism by a train of wheels one of which is displaceable to allow the mechanism to be zeroized without further movement of the meter. Rotation of a knob 8, after prepayment, sets forward the planet wheel 12 of an epicyclic quantity mechanism, the planet wheel radius arm rotating a shait 17 through gearing 15, 16. The end of the shaft, 17 is formed as a part cylinder 23 which forms a stop for a lever 24 controlling the switch. The shaft 17 has a grooved pulley 18 connected to the framework by a spring 19 which is thus tensioned, and a slotted disc 20 co-operating with a pin 22 to limit the number of coins which can be inserted at one time. The return of the shaft 17 to its initial circuit breaking position normally takes place under the control of a meter shaft 3 through a universal coupling 4, 6, shaft 6, gearing 7, 26, 28, 29, the wheel 29 being rigid with one sun wheel 11 of the quantity mechanism which thereby returns the planet wheel 12. The wheel 28 is fixed to a shaft 27 which can slide through but rotates with the wheel 26. In order to zeroize the mechanism before the quantity prepaid has been consumed a key 33 is inserted through the casing into. engagement with a pin 34, and rotated to engage a knob 32 on the shaft 27 thereby displacing the shaft against a spring 30 and disengaging the wheel 28 from the wheel 29. The shaft 17 is then free to rotate to its initial position under the action of the spring 19.

Figs. 1 and 2 show an extrusion machine provided with a feeding device of the kind; the floating pressure member comprises a frame 9 carrying a pair of spaced rolls 11 pressed on to the composition in the hopper 12 by springs 8 and between which the composition is fed in the form of a strip 12 from a coil 5. The Specification also describes a calendering-machine provided with a similar feeding device.
