[Class 31 (i)] Apparatus for making transverse slits in a tyre tread comprises means for traversing a cutter across the tread, means for rotating the tyre and indexing means engaging with the pattern of the tread to determine the position at which a slit is to be made. A tyre 1 is rotated step-by-step by an intermittently driven supporting roller 3 and is slit by a non- rotary circular or other cutter 4 which is intermittently traversed across the tyre tread through rack and pinion gear 23 and a chain 14. The exact rotary steps of the tyre are determined by spring-pressed levers 24, which may carry sleeves 36 to engage the pattern but are alternately disengaged therefrom by contacts 27, 28 on the cutter carriage 12. The levers 24 are mounted on brackets 31 adjustable transversely at 34 and circumferentially at 35 on the guideway 13 of the cutter carriage. The levers 24, together with the guideway 13 and upper steadying rollers 38 are adjustable vertically by a hand wheel 43 operating screws 45. The steadying rollers 38 are adjustable laterally by a hand wheel 39 operating screws. The cutter 4 is clamped between depth gauging rolls or other members on a spring-pressed stem 7. According to the Provisional Specification, a sight device may be employed as an indexing means.

    • An axial flux electric motor is disclosed. The motor includes a rotor having a first rotor face, a second rotor face, a primary bearing locator on the first rotor face and one or more permanent magnets mounted to the first rotor face. Also included is a stator having a first stator face, a second stator face, a secondary bearing locator on the first stator face, a stator winding having one or more conductors and a connector for connection of the stator winding to a power source. A bearing assembly is also provided and positioned between the first face of the rotor and the first face of the stator for rotationally supporting movement of the rotor relative to the stator, the bearing assembly axially displacing the rotor from the stator to provide an air gap therebetween. The bearing assembly is engaged by the primary and secondary bearing locators to correctly position the bearing assembly.

    • A drying system for drying a personal hydration system having a fill opening and a supply tube includes a dryer assembly providing a flow of forced air to be introduced into the fill opening of the personal hydration device. The dryer assembly includes seal-forming structure engageable with the fill opening to form a seal between the dryer assembly and the fill opening to enhance the pressurization and inflation of the personal hydration system. The dryer assembly also includes a channel defining a relief valve for permitting exhaust of air flow from the fill opening upon pressurization and inflation of the personal hydration system. The dryer assembly further includes a resilient cam arm for enabling the dryer assembly to sealingly fit variously sized fill openings.

    • This invention relates to improvements in the method of controlling bio-decontamination cycles used for the bio-decontamination of enclosed spaces, such as pharmaceutical clean rooms, isolators and hospital wards. The bio-decontamination cycle comprises a number of phases including at least one gassing phase, during which sterilant vapour is generated and circulated within the enclosed space. The method is characterised by the steps of continuously measuring the modified relative humidity of the air in the enclosed space, the modified relative humidity being the ratio of water and sterilant vapour: capacity of water and sterilant vapour in the air, and using the measured modified relative humidity to control the steps of the process.
