    • A signal from each of an array of microphones is analyzed. For at least one subset of microphone signals, a time difference is estimated, which characterizes the relative time delays between the signals in the subset. A direction is estimated from which microphone inputs arrive from one or more acoustic sources, based at least partially on the estimated time differences. The microphone signals are filtered in relation to at least one filter transfer function, related to one or more filters. A first filter transfer function component has a value related to a first spatial orientation of the arrival direction, and a second component has a value related to a spatial orientation that is substantially orthogonal in relation to the first. A third filter function may have a fixed value. A driving signal for at least two loudspeakers is computed based on the filtering.

    • Various methods, systems, and computer program products for deferring transmission of data related to collapsing a collapsible display panel are presented. The collapsible display panel may be collapsed. State data that indicates the collapsible display panel has been collapsed may be generated. A determination that no non-state change data corresponding to the collapsible display panel needs to be transferred to a server may be made. In response, the state data may be stored at least until non-state data is to be transmitted to the server. At some time after storing the state data, non-state data that is to be transmitted to the server may be identified. In response to identifying the non-state data that is to be transmitted to the server, the state data and the non-state data may be transmitted to the server together.

    • Systems and methods for clustering photos that include both time stamps and location coordinates. A two step method that first detects boundaries using time and location information independently to form a set of candidate boundaries is implemented. Such boundaries partition the set of time-ordered photos into clusters. A subset of the candidate boundaries is selected by an efficient dynamic programming procedure to optimize a cost function. Several cost functions are used to design clusterings that are coherent in space, time, or both. One set of cost functions minimizes inter-photo distances directly. A second set maximizes an information measure to select clusterings for consistency in both time and space.

    • A system and method for identifying key frames of a presentation video that include stationary informational content. A sequence of frames is obtained from a presentation video and differences of pixel values between consecutive frames of the sequence of frames are computed. Sets of consecutive frames that are stationary are identified, wherein consecutive frames that are stationary have a proportion of changed pixel values below a first predetermined threshold, and wherein pixel values are deemed to be changed when the difference between the pixel values for corresponding pixels in consecutive frames exceeds a second predetermined threshold. Next, a set of key frames that include stationary informational content is retained. The set of key frames that include stationary informational content is then displayed for user interaction.

For each document image in a set of document images that are associated with one or more genres, the document image is segmented into a plurality of tiles, wherein the tiles in the plurality of tiles are sized so that document page features are identifiable, and features of the document image and the plurality of tiles are computed. At least one genre classifier is trained to classify document images as being associated with one or more genres based on the features of the document images in the set of document images, the features of the plurality of tiles of the set of documents images, and the one or more genres associated with each document image in the set of documents images.

    • The subject invention relates to a system and method for video summarization, and more specifically to a system for segmenting and classifying data from a video in order to create a summary video that preserves and summarizes relevant content. In one embodiment, the system first extracts appearance, motion, and audio features from a video in order to create video segments corresponding to the extracted features. The video segments are then classified as dynamic or static depending on the appearance-based and motion-based features extracted from each video segment. The classified video segments are then grouped into clusters to eliminate redundant content. Select video segments from each cluster are selected as summary segments, and the summary segments are compiled to form a summary video. The parameters for any of the steps in the summarization of the video can be altered so that a user can adapt the system to any type of video, although the system is designed to summarize unstructured videos where the content is unknown. In another aspect, audio features can also be used to further summarize video with certain audio properties.
