    • PURPOSE: To obtain long-branch polyethylene having a desired number of branches and a desired length of the branch, by heating polyethylene having at least one terminal vinyl group in avaccum or in an inert gas atmosphere at a specified temperature for a specified length of time.
      CONSTITUTION: The purpose long-branch polyethylene is obtained by heating polyethylene having at least one terminal vinyl group in vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere at a temperature of 180W360°C for 5minW6hr to form long branches. Here, the polyethylene having a terminal vinyl group may be replaced with a mixture containing a hydrocarbon having a terminal vinyl group and polyethylene. It is also possible to increase the number of branches per molecule by effecting the reaction at the lowest possible temperature for the longest possible time, and it is possible to control the length of the long-chain branch by appropriately selecting the terminal vinyl group of the polyetylene having a terminal vinyl group.

    • A core catcher includes a holding surface that catches and holds corium and that introduces a coolant with which surroundings of the core catcher are filled into the core catcher and cool a whole of the core catcher by heat exchange with the introduced coolant.
