    • PURPOSE:To provide solderability and bondability to an Ni-Fe alloy lead frame for IC at a low cost by subjecting the lead frame to chemical polishing and cathodic electrolysis in baths each contg. inorg. and org. acids as principal components and by plating the lead frame with Ni and a noble metal in succession. CONSTITUTION:An Ni-Fe alloy lead frame for IC is immersed in an acidic activating bath consisting of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, citric acid powder, acetic acid, a nonionic or amphoteric surfactant and a corrosion inhibitor to remove oxide, etc. sticking to the surface by chemical polishing. The surface of the lead frame is then activated by cathodic electrolysis in an electrolytic bath consisting of phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, citric acid powder, acetic acid, a nonionic or amphoteric surfactant, a pyrrolidone deriv., acetylene glycol and a corrosion inhibitor. The activated surface is thinly plated with Ni and Au, Ag, Pd or an alloy thereof in succession. The solderability and bondability of the lead frame for IC are improved.

    • PURPOSE: To perform a ultrathin pure gold plating whose adhesive strength is excellent, by performing the gold plating after passing through a chemical polishing process and an electrolytic activating process of specified conditions.
      CONSTITUTION: Stainless steel is immersed into an acidic activating bath which has compounded 15W30 hydrochloric acid (35% solution) by volume %, 5W15 sulphuric acid (80% solution), 4W6 nitric acid (68% solution), 5W15wt% citric acid powder, 0.5W1.5 acetic acid (90% solution, 0.1W0.3wt% non-ion or amphoteric surface active agent, and 0.05W0.15wt% corrosion inhibitor, and chemical polishing is performed. Subsequently, it is immersed into an electrolytic bath which has compounded 5W15 by volume % phosphoric acid (85% solution), 5W15 sulphuric acid (85% solution), 5W15wt% citric acid powder, 0.5W1.5 acetic acid (90% solution), 0.1W0.3wt% non-ion or amphoteric surface active agent, 2W20 pyrolidone derivative, 0.5W7wt% acetylene glycol, and 0.05W0.15wt% corrosion inhibitor, and the surface is activated by a cathode electrolysis. Subsequently, ultrathin pure gold plating is performed.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of rust after removing rust by emulsifying an aqueous soln. contg. hydrochloric acid as a principal component and a chlorohydrocarbon, adding specified amounts of the polyethylene oxide adduct of N- alkyltrimethylenediamine, colloidal silica powder and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone to the emulsion, and causing gelation. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous soln. contg. hydrochloric acid as a principal component or further contg. one or >=2 kinds among phosphoric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid is mixed with a chlorohydrocarbon such as methylene chloride or trichloroethylene, and the mixture is emulsified. To the emulsion are added 0.5- 3% polyethylene oxide adduct of N-alkyltrimethylenediamine, 10-30% colloidal silica powder and 3-10% N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, and gelation is caused.

    • PURPOSE: To plate only the minimum required parts with gold by continuously plating gold on a stainless steel strip to be blanked of internal parts for timepiece in a stripe or spot shape.
      CONSTITUTION: For example, a stainless steel strip is masked by continuously printing an ultraviolet curing resin ink thereon by leaving a stripe part of about 3mm width in the central part. This steel strip is continuously passed through the inside of an alkali defatting liquid, thence with the steel strip as anode, it is electrolytically defatted in the same liquid. Following to this, it is passed through a bath consisting of mixed acids, a surfactant and a corrosion inhibitor, while being irradiated with ultrasonic waves, whereby the oxides and impurities on the surface of the steel strip are removed. After this chemical polishing, it is electrolytically activated in a similar bath to have an activated surface and finally it is plated with gold, whereby a gold plating layer of about 0.3mμ thickness is formed in the stripe part of the steel strip.
