    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container for squeezing out a semisolid material contained therein by rotating a part of the container, by using a string. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the container, the string (6) is placed in the container (3) together with a pushout valve (4) in a manner engaging with string guide grooves (7) formed in the pushout valve, and both ends of the string (6) are taken out via notches (8). Then the semisolid material is filled in the container, and thereafter an inner lid (9) is placed in the container, followed by securing string fixing members (10) attached to the respective ends of the string, to string securing sections (11). Further the string is hooked on upper portions of the notches (8), and a squeezing pipe (12) of the inner rid (9) is pinched and rotated to eliminate loosening of the string, followed by fixing the upper lid (2) to the container (3) in a manner protruding an upper portion of the squeezing pipe (12) from an inner lid fixing hole (13).     • A gas chromatograph for operation selectably in both split mode and splitless wide bore injection mode includes a capillary column, a sample injection chamber at the inlet of the column, a three-way valve, a first piping line connected between one of the two outlets of the three-way valve and the sample injection chamber, a split line connected to the sample injection chamber immediately upstream of the inlet of the column for discharging therethrough a portion of a gas being sent out from the sample injection chamber, a second piping line connected between the other of the outlets of the three-way valve and the split line, and a third piping line connected between the first and second piping lines. By properly controlling the total carrier gas flow rate and the column inlet pressure, the split ratio can be controlled easily. By varying the split ratio appropriately during an analysis, the amount of the carrier gas to be wasted in the case of a split mode of operation can be significantly reduced.

    • An automatic injector is used for introducing a specimen into a specimen analyzing device, such as a gas chromatograph or a liquid chromatograph. The automatic injector is formed of a syringe having a needle at one end and a plunger slidably operationally situated inside the syringe for sucking and injecting the specimen through the needle, a syringe supporting member fixed to the syringe for supporting the same and having a sliding guide, and a needle guide. The needle guide includes a vertical plate portion having a groove for slidably engaging the sliding guide, and a horizontal plate portion fixed to the vertical plate portion and having a needle protection with a hole. A tip of the needle is positioned in the hole to prevent the needle from being bent when the needle is moved downwardly. The automatic injector is driven with a small torque.

    • A thermal conductivity detector includes not only a thermal conductivity detector cell disposed so as to be heated by heat transmitted from a first heater block and a column connector connected to the detector cell and to a column of a chromatograph but also a second heater block for heating the column connector. The heaters for individually heating these two heater blocks are controlled simultaneously and in synchronism by a single temperature controller according to the temperature of the first heater block for heating the detector cell.
