    • A hermetic electric scroll compressor includes a fixed scroll and an orbiting scroll which define therebetween a plurality of compression spaces for compressing fluid introduced via a suction port. The orbiting scroll has a base plate and a shaft portion extending from the base plate toward a crankshaft rotatably supported by a support member. A seal member is disposed between the base plate and the support member to define an inner region and an outer region. The shaft portion is exposed to the inner region, while the outer region communicates with the suction port. The shaft portion is formed with an axial hole open to the inner region, while the base plate is formed with a radial hole open to the outer region. Communication is established between the axial and radial holes via a small-diameter hole so that lubricating oil supplied to the inner region is introduced into the outer region via the small-diameter hole for feeding to the compression spaces via the suction port.

    • An electrically-driven closed scroll compressor has a compression mechanism accommodated in a closed vessel. The compression mechanism includes a bearing member securely mounted in the closed vessel, a stationary scroll having a stationary scroll wrap formed thereon, an orbiting scroll having an orbiting end plate and an orbiting scroll wrap formed on the orbiting end plate so as to engage with the stationary scroll wrap to define a plurality of working pockets therebetween, and an eccentric bearing for allowing the orbiting scroll to undergo an orbiting motion relative to the stationary scroll. A generally ring-shaped sealing member is mounted on the bearing member so as to be held in contact with the orbiting end plate. The sealing member may be mounted on the orbiting end plate. The orbiting end plate has first and second regions defined therein internally and externally of the sealing member, respectively, so that the first and second regions may receive first and second pressures, respectively, both forming a first thrust force. The sealing member has a center positioned so that during the orbiting motion of the orbiting scroll, when a second thrust force applied to the orbiting scroll from the working pockets takes a substantially maximum value, a distance between a central point of application of the first thrust force and a central point of application of the second thrust force takes a substantially minimum value.

    • Methods and non-volatile storage systems are provided for determining erratically programmed storage elements, including under-programmed and over-programmed storage elements. Techniques do not require any additional data latches. A set of data latches may be used to store program data for a given memory element. This program data may be maintained after the programming is over for use in erratic program detection. In one embodiment, lockout status is kept in a data latch that is used to serially receive program data to be programmed into the storage element. Therefore, no extra data latches are required to program the storage elements and to maintain the program data afterwards.

    • Methods and non-volatile storage systems are provided for recovering data during a programming of non-volatile storage. Program data that was originally stored in one set of latches may be preserved with a combination of two sets of latches. These two sets of latches may also be used to store verify status during programming of that program data. The original program data may be recovered by performing a logical operation on the data in the two sets of latches. For example, upper page data could be initially stored in one set of latches. While the upper page data is being programmed, that set of latches and another set of latches are used to store verify status with respect to the upper page data. If a program error occurs while the upper page data is being preserved, it may be recovered by performing a logical operation on the two sets of latches.
