Guiding-mechanism.-A device for regulating the lateral position of the wire-cloth 1 in a papermaking machine, comprises a transverse regulating-roller 4, one end 5 of which is carried in a bearing 6 by one arm 7 of a bell-crank lever 8 pivoted at 9. A pipe 13, provided with a transversely-extended nozzle 14, is arranged to spray liquid so that half impinges on the edge 15 of the wire-cloth 1 and half is sent past the edge and through a channel 16 to a receiver 11 suspended from the other arm 10 of the lever 8. An adjustable discharge 12 fitted to the receiver 11 is arranged so that, under normal conditions, the inflow and outflow are equal and the liquid level in the receiver 11 is constant. A spring 17, or a weight, is arranged to counterbalance, the receiver 11 and its normal liquid content, and to maintain the lever 8 in such a position as to keep the roller 4 at right-angles to the wire-cloth. On a lateral displacement of the wire-cloth, the inflow of liquid to the receiver 11 is affected and the arm 8 moves up or down, thereby causing a corrective movement of the roller 4. Instead of acting directly on the wire-cloth, the spray may act on a member controlled by it; also two sprays may be fitted, one on each side of the wire-cloth and normally passing clear, but one being obstructed on a lateral movement of the cloth. The receivers may be fixed and provided with floats connected to the regulating-roller.

    • The invention relates to a method and a system adapting broadband access equipment (20) to query customer premises switches (16, 18) of a medium access control address located on its physical interface to the customer premises equipment (10, 22). All customer premises switches (16, 18) are receiving a first request, hereby conducting a lookup in their medium access control address table for the medium access control address. When finding a matching table entry, the customer premises switch (16, 18) housing the medium access control address (MAC) in its table replies with a port name of the specific downlink port, thus identifying the port location of the accessing customer premises equipment (22) and automatically providing a CPE with the correct service depending on which port the CPE is connected to. The customer premises switch (16, 18) is periodically scanning the medium access control address table, continuously transmitting table entries to broadband access equipment (20).
