摘要： The luminous umbrella of the present invention uses a high proportion of the light generated by mounting the light bulb high on the shaft such that most of the light from the light bulb is projected at the highly reflective undersurface. The curvature of the undersurface focuses the light from the light bulb down to illuminate a space immediately around the user. This illuminated space widens towards the bottom, thereby providing the widest illumination as the ground where it is most needed. As a result of the light being efficiently focused, the required luminosity of the light bulb is reduced, enabling the umbrella to be used using an incandescent light bulb and a few 1.5 volt batteries. Alternatively, if it is desired to provide increased illumination, the conventional incandescent bulb may be replaced with a halogen bulb. The batteries will still suffice to provide bright illumination by the halogen bulb. Preferably the bulb is retractable to within a protective bulb housing during non-use to mitigate the risk of breakage.

摘要： The present invention is an ergonomically suitable handle that houses a power supply such as a dry battery. The handle is particularly suitable for use with a hand-held electrically luminous umbrella. The handle has a hollow longitudinally elongated grip body. The grip body has a pair of spaced parallel elongated co-planar faces, and therebetween, a pair of elongated convexly curved faces. The cross-sectional shape and the dimensions of the grip body are selected to enable a hand to close around the grip body in a comfortable and secure grip. The interior of the grip body has a shaft housing for securing the proximal end of an umbrella shaft, and a power supply housing for housing four dry cells in two rows of two dry cells. To provide circumferential strength, there are a collar and an end cap joined to the distal and proximal ends of the grip body, respectively.

摘要： A midsole for footwear comprising a midsole element, which comprises a top plate, a bottom plate, and a plurality of strut members disposed between the top and bottom plates for supporting the top plate a distance away from the bottom plate. Adjacent strut members have a C shaped cross-section facing in the same direction. The midsole element may further comprise a heel cleft to increase the flexibility of the sole.
