    • The invention relates to a hydraulic vehicle brake system which has a brake pressure supply device (1). Said brake pressure supply device (1) can be connected to wheel brakes of the vehicle via at least one hydraulic line and substantially consists of a master brake cylinder (3) and a hydraulic booster (4) mounted upstream thereof. Said booster has a return chamber (19) and a booster chamber (18), a working piston (12) arranged therein and a control piston (21). The working piston (12) is actively connected to a master brake cylinder piston via an actuating element (13) in the direction of power output. The booster (4) can be impinged upon with a hydraulic pressure of a hydraulic pressure source (7) for the purpose of boosting the braking power, an outlet (9) of the booster (4) being connectible to a reservoir (8). The invention is characterized in that the control piston (21) comprises a plate-shaped actuating piston (24) arranged thereon, which cooperates with the working piston (12). The control piston (21) is guided inside the working piston (12) in such a manner that, when the booster (4) is actuated, a two-step reduction of the volume flow between the booster chamber (18) and the return chamber (19) is enabled to build up pressure in the booster chamber (18).
