    • In a process for separating mixtures of partially fluorinated or perfluorinated hydrocarbon compounds which possibly contain other chain members from the group of heteroatoms: nitrogen, oxygen, boron, phosphorus and sulphur and/or can be substituted by other halogen atoms, those partially or perfluorinated compounds which have an acyclic, straight-chain structure and a critical molecular diameter between 4 and 7 ANGSTROM or are substituted by residues having a straight-chain, acyclic structure and a critical molecular diameter between 4 and 7 ANGSTROM , are separated from the partially or perfluorinated compounds which do not contain straight-chain, acyclic residues and which have a critical molecular diameter at least 1.1 times that of said straight-chain, acyclic residues, in liquid or gaseous phase. The mixture or a solution of the mixture in an inert organic solvent having a molecular diameter greater than that of said straight-chain, acyclic residues is placed in contact with a quantity of a molecular sieve sufficient for adsorption. The mean open pore diameter of the molecular sieve is in the range of the critical molecular diameter of the above-mentioned acyclic, straight-chain residues or up to 30 % less. The molecular sieve laden principally with the compounds containing acyclic residues is separated and the compounds adsorbed on the molecular sieve are desorbed.
