    • A cable stripper tool enabling an operator to quickly change from making a circumferential cut of a cable to a liner cut without repositioning the cable stripper tool on the cable includes a blade positioning assembly, a blade penetration assembly and a cable guide assembly. The blade positioning assembly is adopted to efficiently move the blade linearly for penetrating the insulation at a predetermined distance set by the dial assembly while the tool is clamped to the cable to perform a circumferential cut upon relative rotation of the tool and the cable. The blade further is retracted to be turned by the blade positioning assembly at a 90° angle with a rotary cam action to be further axially propelled to penetrate the cable at the same predetermined distance to perform a linear cut without dismounting the cable.

    • A flush cut tool is configured with a support unit operative to hold an armored cable in a desired position. The flush cut tool is further configured with a cutting unit including a hand crank, a blade assembly fixed to the hand crank and a friction assembly. The hand crank is configured to rotate relative to the friction assembly about a pivot axis until the blade assembly is brought in contact with the jacket of the cable. Thereafter, the hand crank, blade assembly and friction unit continue t rotate together about the axis of the cable so that the blade assembly is operative to produce a ring cut.

    • A tool manipulating device includes a combination of depth setting, length adjusting and workpiece clamp members provided on a longitudinal hand-held handle. The depth setting member has a blade assembly that extends perpendicular to the hand-held handle. The blade assembly is capable of rotating onto itself after penetrating into a workpiece to be stripped from its jacket at a predetermined depth to produce a ring cut and an axial cut of the workpiece upon sequentially rotating and axially pulling the cable relative to the handle.

    • A cable stripping apparatus having a longitudinal axis for stripping, for example, jackets and/or armored steel shields from cables is disclosed. In the preferred embodiment, a cable receiving portion is mounted on a base. The cable receiving portion receives a cable and facilitates maintaining the cable in an orientation orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the cable stripping apparatus. A carriage is operably connected to the base and is movable along the longitudinal axis of the apparatus. The carriage includes a rotatable cutting wheel housed at least partially inside the carriage. An adjusting shaft, operably connected to the carriage, moves the carriage in the longitudinal direction, i.e., toward and away from the cable receiving portion. A dial, operably connected to the cutting wheel, moves the cutting wheel along the longitudinal axis and thereby adjusts the distance that the cutting wheel extends from the carriage. A locking member locks the dial into a predetermined position so that the cutting wheel position is not disturbed during the stripping process. When a cable is properly positioned on the cable receiving portion, and when the cutting wheel is properly adjusted, the cable stripping apparatus allows a user to cut the jacket and/or armored steel shield of a cable with very high precision, i.e., to about a thousandth of an inch, thereby ensuring the sensitive cable housed inside is not damaged or destroyed during the stripping process.
