    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a repeatable and adjustable method capable of controlling the thermoforming of a foam blank.SOLUTION: A vacuum forming device 40 for deforming a forming blank 16 is disclosed. This device 40 includes a die 22, and at least one regulator bag 42 disposed adjacent to the die 22. The regulator bag 42 includes a sealed bag with an outer part and an inner part having a first volume, and a passage defined from the inner part to the outer part of the regulator bag 42. The passage is configured so that the regulator bag 42 has a first contraction speed whereby the sealed bag retreats from a first volume to a second volume over a given time during the outer part of the sealed bag is under constant reduced pressure. The device 40 also includes a vacuum film 46 connected to the die. The vacuum film 46 is configured to form a forming blank 16 and a vacuum space 48 sealing at least one regulator bag 42 therein.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new computing architecture that allows one to combine the decision-making ability of a processor-based machine with the number-crunching speed of a hardwired-pipeline-based machine.
      SOLUTION: A peer-vector machine 40 includes a host processor and a hardwired pipeline accelerator 44 coupled to the hose processor. The host processor generates host data according to program and the pipeline accelerator generates pipeline data from the data. As the peer-vector machine includes both the processor and the pipeline accelerator, it can process data more efficiently than a machine that includes only processors or only accelerators. For example, shifting mathematically intensive operations are sifted to the accelerator. The accelerator performs mathematically intensive operations, so that the peer-vector machine processes data significantly faster than the machine including only processors for a given clock frequency.
