[Class 61(iii)] A wrench for removing screwed and other caps from jars and the like comprises a lever 2 adapted to be laid over the cap 8 of a jar 9, and toothed jaws 7, 11 for gripping the periphery of the cap, the jaw 7 being pivoted to the lever at 12 and the jaw 11 pivoted at 13 to a block 10 slidable on the lever. The slide 10 is slotted for the passage of the lever; a tooth being provided on the wall of the slot for engagement with one of the ratchet or saw teeth 6 on the toothed edge 5 of the lever when the latter is turned to unscrew the cap. The slide may be spring-urged into locking engagement with the toothed edge. The jaw 11, pivoted to the lower face of the slide may be of sector, circular or rectangular form and mounted centrally or eccentrically on the pivot 13. The downturned heel 4 of the lever forms a stop for the jaw 7.

Whole blades are snapped along the middle by bending after insertion in a slot 19. The base 1 is formed with a clamp bracket 2, and flanges 14 for positioning the Mades. The bottom blade is mounted directly on the base 1, so that the space between the blade and the base of the groove 15 serves for " stringing only.
