    • Methods and systems to summarize a source text as a function of contextual information, including to fit a summary within a context-based allotted time. The context-based allotted time may be apportioned amongst multiple portions of the source text, such as by relevance. The context-based allotted time and/or relevance may be user-specified and/or determined, such as by look-up, rule, computation, inference, and/or machine learning. During summary presentation, one or more portions of the source text may be re-summarized, such as to adjust a level of detail. A presentation rate may be user-controllable. Where new and/or changed contextual information affects an available time to review a remaining portion of the summary, the summary presentation may be automatically adjusted, and/or one or more portions of the source text may be re-summarized based on a revised context-based allotted time.

    • An embodiment of the invention includes a system that tracks a user's pupillary response to content located on a web page. The system then determines a cognitive load for the user that is based on the measured response. Cognitive load refers to the total amount of mental activity imposed on working memory in any one instant. Further, the system may aggregate the cognitive load data for one user over time, for many different users, and/or for many different users over time. The cognitive load may be determined for different portions of a displayed page, such as a document object model (DOM) included on the page. The cognitive load may be specified for different elements that make up the DOM. Also, cognitive load may be apportioned over several different DOM elements at one moment in time or over a period of time. Other embodiments are described herein.

    • A system and method for adapting data processing of media having video content based, at least in part on, characteristics of a viewer captured from a sensor during presentation of the media to the viewer. During presentation of video content, a sensor may capture a viewer's eye movement and the focus of the viewer's gaze relative to a display upon which the video content is being displayed, wherein regions of the display in which the viewer's gaze is focused may be indicative of viewer interest in corresponding subject matter and regions of the display in which the viewer's gaze is not focused may be indicative of lack of viewer interest in corresponding subject matter. The system is configured to prioritize processing of the media file based, at least in part, on identified regions of interest and non-interest, wherein regions of interest are processed with higher priority than regions of non-interest.

    • A gaze activated data unit transfer system is described. An apparatus may comprise a gaze interface application operative on a processor circuit to manage data unit transfer operations based on eye movements of a human user. The gaze interface application may comprise a gaze interpreter component operative to receive eye movement information of a human eye from one or more eye gaze trackers, and interpret the eye movement information as a data unit transfer request to transfer a data unit from a source device to a target device, a data connection component operative to establish a data connection between the source and target devices using the transceiver in response to the data unit transfer request, and a data transfer component operative to send the data unit from the source device to the target device over the data connection.
