    • A printer device having a detachable thermal head, the thermal head being precisely positioned relative to a platen, whereby the printer device is capable of printing characters or the like, of a stable quality, on printing paper having different thickness'. A head module of the printer an attachment member detachably attached to a main frame; a movable support member movable relative to the attachment member; and a thermal head fixedly supported by the movable support member. The movable support member is connected to the attachment member via a plurality of head springs, and has a head positioning protruding portion configured to engage with a head positioning recess portion of the attachment member. The recess portion is formed as a groove which is generally straight, whereby the movable support member and the thermal head 44 may be straightly displaced relative to the attachment member only in the extending direction of the groove.

    • A printer with automatic cutter, provided with a built-in type cutting section. The printer includes a printing section, a cutting section arranged downstream of the printing section in a paper feeding direction, a support mechanism for supporting the printing section and the cutting section, and a drive source provided in the cutting section. The printing section acts to provide a print to printing paper fed continuously thereto. The cutting section includes a fixed blade and a movable blade which cooperate with each other to cut the printing paper, the fixed blade and the movable blade being shiftable relative to each other between a cooperative mutually-adjoining position and an uncooperative mutually-remote position. The support mechanism includes a first support member supporting the fixed blade of the cutting section and a second support member supporting the movable blade of the cutting section, the first support member being fixedly arranged to specify an operative printing point in the printing section and the second support member being shiftably arranged relative to the first support member. The drive source generates a driving force to move the movable blade on the second support member, the drive source being mounted on the first support member.

    • A printer apparatus for printing data on paper traveling through the printer apparatus in a paper conveying direction. The printer apparatus includes a paper conveying portion including a driving roller and a driven roller, the driving roller and driven roller being moveable with respect to one another between an engaged position at which the driving roller and the driven roller are pressed together and a disengaged position at which the driving roller and the driven roller are separated; wherein the paper conveying portion is situated downstream, with respect to the paper conveying direction, from the location at which the data is printed on the paper; and wherein the driving roller and the driven roller are operative to pressingly sandwich the paper therebetween when the driving roller and the driven roller are in the engaged position.

    • A printer includes a paper roll holder holding a roll of paper, a paper feed path guiding the paper from the paper roll holder, a printing head provided on a portion of the paper feed path for printing on the paper, and a cutter disposed on the paper feed path between the paper roll holder and the printing head for cutting the unraveled paper roll. A method for loading a paper roll to a printer includes the step of cutting the unraveled paper roll at a position upstream of the printing head, before the edge of the paper driven reaches a position downstream of the printing head. By positioning the cutter upstream of the printing head and cutting the paper before the forward edge of the paper moves downstream of the printing head, the printing head and a platen roller can be kept free of any dirt adhering to the paper.
