    • An exemplary alignment apparatus (20) includes a supporting member (24), a conveyor (25), and a high-pressure fluid generator (21). The supporting member is configured for supporting a substrate (23) having an alignment layer (26). The conveyor is configured for conveying the supporting member along a predetermined direction. The high-pressure fluid generator is configured for generating and ejecting high-pressure fluid onto a surface of the alignment layer of the substrate to form an alignment surface. Because the alignment apparatus includes the high-pressure fluid generator which can eject high-pressure fluid to impact the surface of the alignment layer in order to form an alignment surface, no debris is introduced. Therefore, the substrates processed by the alignment apparatus can have improved quality and reliability.

    • An exemplary liquid crystal panel (11) includes a first mother substrate (210), a second mother substrate (220) opposite to the first mother substrate, sealant (230), and conductive adhesive (240). The sealant is discontinuously provided at the first mother substrate, thereby defining a plurality of gaps (232) in the sealant. The conductive adhesive is filled in the gaps. When the second mother substrate is attached onto the first mother substrate and pressed, only a minimal amount of conductive adhesive expands beyond the outer boundary of the sealant. Therefore a subsequent step of cutting or splitting the mother liquid crystal panel into liquid crystal panels is unencumbered by any unwanted collateral conductive adhesive bonding. Moreover, because the sizes of the portions of the conductive adhesive can be configured as desired, it is relatively easy to mix the metal beads in the sealant to prepare the conductive adhesive.

    • A liquid crystal display device (10) includes a first substrate (11), a second substrate (19) opposite to the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer (17) interposed between the first and second substrates, a sealant (18) disposed between and at a peripheral region of the liquid crystal display device between the first and second substrates for sealing a space between the first and second substrates and the sealant, and a photo spacer pattern (15) having a plurality of photo spacers (151, 152, 153). The photo spacers are formed within the space and outside the sealant at peripheral portions of the first and second substrates. The photo spacers are provided to ensure that the liquid crystal display device has a consistent cell gap.
