    • An apparatus for monitoring wearing or consumable parts 18, especially parts of internal combustion engines, in which monitoring verifies that the consumable part 18 is functioning and also ensures that a consumable part 18 conforming to specifications is used. A chip 22 identifiable by a chip reader 23 is disposed in the consumable part 18. The chip reader 23 is integrated into the maintenance switch 10 and connected to the voltage supply 12 of the maintenance switch 10. This enables simple and cost-effective monitoring both of the functioning of the part and of the use of properly specified wearing or consumable parts.

    • A multicell cyclone with a plurality of cyclone cells and a method for the production thereof, in which the cyclone cells of the multicell cyclone are combined into groups from which deposited particles are cleaned out by vacuum suction through channel structures. This permits better control of the discharge of separated particles. Vacuum suction of the separated particles can be effected, for instance, via openings (19) which are jointly provided for the group (21) of cyclone cells. The group of cyclone cells can furthermore be produced as a module, which can, for instance, be assembled from two parts (12, 13) in which like structural elements of a group of cyclones are combined into one respective part. This makes it possible to optimize the separation result with little structural complexity and at low production cost.

    • A liquid filter, especially for oil of an internal combustion engine, with a bypass valve including a valve body 20 and a valve seat 21 integrated in an end plate 32 of the filter insert. A spring 22, which urges the bypass valve closed, is mounted in a support member 24 attached to the housing. Thus, parts of the bypass valve subject to wear and soiling can be replaced each time filter element 18 is replaced, and reliable operation of the bypass valve is assured throughout the life of the filter. The filter insert can be designed free of metal for easy disposability. The filter cartridge can also be used with known filter arrangements in which a permanent valve body is housed in the support member 24. When the filter element of the invention is used, this permanent valve body stays in the support member and functions as an intermediate piece 35, which transmits force between spring 22 and valve body 20. The valve function is assumed by new valve body 20 engaging valve seat 21.

    • A separation cone (30) is mounted into the interior chamber of a centrifugal separator rotor (10), which comprises a cover (14) releasably connected to a base (16), in order to provide a frusto-conical wall subdividing the chamber into upper and lower regions. This slows the passage of fluid from the upper to the lower region, which takes place via openings (24) and/or via a gap between the inner rim (32) of the cone (30) and the axial inlet tube (12). The separation cone (30) is connected to the cover (14) by a releasable snap fit arrangement, such as by deflectable tabs (38) around the periphery of the separation cone (30) engaging into a groove (15) around the interior surface adjacent a lower edge of the cover (14). This allows there to be a predetermined sequence of servicing operations and ensures that the separation cone (30) will reliably stay with the cover (14) when the cover is removed.
