    • There is a method and apparatus for transmitting a beacon for D2D communications in a first radio resource selected from among a first set of radio resources of a beacon frame; and for transmitting a broadcast message in a second radio resource selected from among a second set of radio resources of the same beacon frame. In various particular embodiments: the beacon has an indication that the broadcast message is to be transmitted in the beacon frame; the beacon has an indication specifying the second radio resource; there is transmitted a broadcast message header in the second radio resource during an initial subframe of the beacon frame and the broadcast message header has an indication of how many subframes are allocated for the broadcast message; and the broadcast message header has a retransmission control field that selectively indicates which broadcast partners are to re-transmit the broadcast message.

    • Method, apparatus, and computer program product embodiments are disclosed for quiet period management in wireless networks to enhance coexistence of wireless networks with other wireless networks. An example embodiment comprises: receiving control information in a wireless message in a communications channel from another device in a wireless network; receiving a packet having a duration in the communications channel in the wireless network; delaying transmission of a packet in the communications channel for an interval determined by the received control information; monitoring an ambient electromagnetic spectrum during the interval; and competing for transmission resources in the communications channel, using a carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance access method, after the interval.

    • Various example embodiments are disclosed relating to feedback and link adaptation techniques for wireless networks. According to an example embodiment, an apparatus may include a processor or controller. The controller may be configured to determine a channel quality indication (CQI) value for each of a plurality of wireless sub-channels, discard any of the CQI values older than a threshold time, leaving a set of current CQI values, determine a percentile CQI value based on the set of current CQI values, and transmit the percentile CQI value to an infrastructure node. The infrastructure node, may, for example, determine or select one or more data transmission parameters, such as a modulation scheme and/or coding rate, based at least in part on the received percentile CQI value.
