摘要： The method is capable of manufacturing a reliable magnetic head, in which an upper magnetic coil can be securely insulated from a coil and variation of coil resistance can be restrained. The method of manufacturing a magnetic head having a write-head comprises the steps of: forming a recording coil of the write-head formed in a workpiece; coating a surface of a coil forming area of the write-head, in which the recording coil is formed, other than a front end part of a lower magnetic pole of the write-head, with a protection layer, which prevents the recording coil from being etched by ion milling; and etching a pole end section of the write-head, by ion milling, so as to have a prescribed width.

摘要： A highly reliable magnetic head is provided where fluctuation in the form of the upper magnetic pole is prevented and recording density is improved. The magnetic head is equipped with a recording head where a lower tip magnetic pole and an upper tip magnetic pole are formed facing one another on both sides of a write gap and a coil is disposed on a rear side of the lower magnetic pole. The lower tip magnetic pole is provided with an apex part by forming the surface on the rear side on which the coil is disposed as an inclined surface, and an insulating layer that covers the coil is formed to the rear of the lower tip magnetic pole.

摘要： The method of manufacturing a magnetic head is capable of securely insulating coils in different layers when the magnetic head including a lower magnetic pole, an upper magnetic pole and a write-head constituted by a plurality of the layered coils is produced. The method of manufacturing a magnetic head, which includes a write-head, constituted by a plurality of layered coils, comprises the steps of: forming a tip magnetic pole section, which is located at a front end of the lower magnetic pole, and the coil of the first layer on a surface of a substrate; polishing the entire surface of the substrate so as to make the entire surface of the substrate, which includes a surface of the tip magnetic pole section and a surface of the coil of the first layer, even flat face; coating the surface of the substrate other than specific parts, which electrically insulate the coil of the first layer from the coil of a second layer, with resist; coating the entire surface of the substrate with an insulating layer; removing the insulating layer from the specific parts together with the resist by liftoff; and forming the coil of the second layer on the insulating layer formed on the substrate.
