摘要： A unibody, multi-piece crucible for use in for use in elemental purification, compounding, and growth of semi-conductor crystals, e.g., in the process of molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) for melting silicon and the like at high temperature. The crucible has an outer coating layer that fixedly joins the multi pieces making up the crucible. The invention also provides a method for making a unibody containing structure comprising pyrolytic boron nitride having a negative draft, which method obviates the need of complicated overhang structure of graphite mandrels or the removal of the graphite mandrels by burning at high temperatures.

摘要： An electronic equipment has a body with a cover which is easily openable and closable and which body can be maintained at a tilted state by the opened cover, enhancing use of the equipment. The equipment includes a body having a display panel and first and second cover members, mounted to the body and guided in a slidable and pivotable manner between first (closed) and second (opened) positions. The second cover member is pivotably coupled at one end to the first cover member, the first and second cover members cooperating with each other to cover the display panel in respective first and third positions thereof. In respective second and fourth positions thereof, the second cover member is rotated about an end of the body and extends below a rear surface of the body to maintain the body in a tilted state.

摘要： The inventive method and apparatus are based on the display of a striped target with constantly accurate contrast to the patient for finding a visual function disturbance associated with such eye diseases as glaucoma or diabetic repinopathy at their earlier stage. A sight target of striped pattern is formed on the screen having a uniform brightness, the striped target is oscillated in the direction orthogonal to the striped pattern while varying the contrast of striped target and showing it to the patient, and the threshold of the pattern contrast which can be recognized visually by the patient is measured.

摘要： A liquid-crystal display apparatus comprising two substrates opposing each other and having electrodes formed on the opposing surfaces, at least one of the electrodes being transparent, a nematic liquid crystal layer interposed between the substrates and having pre-tilt angle .theta. of greater than 1.degree. with respect to the surfaces of the substrates, and having a twisting angle of 180.degree. to 360.degree. from the first substrate to the second substrate, a first polarizer arranged on that side of the first substrate which faces away from the electrode formed thereon, a second polarizer arranged on that side of the second substrate which faces away from the electrode formed thereon, and an optical retardation member or a combination of an optical retardation member and a quarter-wave plate, each located between the polarizers. The value of R=.DELTA.n.multidot.d cos.sup.2 .theta. ranges from 0.4 to 0.8, where .DELTA.n is the optical anisotropy of the nematic liquid crystal material, d (.mu.m) is the thickness of the liquid crystal layer, and .theta. is the pre-tilt angle of the liquid crystal material. The value of R'=.DELTA.n'.multidot.d' ranges from 0.22+0.55 m to 0.42+0.65 m, or from 0.47+0.55 m to 0.67+0.65 m (m=0, 1, or 2), where .DELTA.n' is the optical anisotropy of the optical retardation member and d' (.mu.m) is the thickness of the optical retardation member. Owing to the optical retardation member located between the polarizers, and also to the specific values of R and R', the apparatus can perform high-quality monochrome display with great background whiteness and high image contrast.

摘要： The invention provides a downsized processing machine, equipped with a machine tool and a multijoint robot. The processing machine 100 comprises a machine tool 10, a workpiece pallet 70 and a gantry rail 120 disposed above the machine tool 10. A multijoint robot 130 traveling on the gantry rail 120 is equipped with a dual-partitioning electron system speed monitoring function. Through use of this function, the range of movement D2 of the multijoint robot 130 is controlled to fit within the inner side of a front cover 11 of the machine tool 10, according to which the safety barrier 180 can be downsized. This arrangement enables the operator to open or close a door 12 of the machine tool 10 and to manipulate a control panel 16 even when the multijoint robot is in operation, and the footprint of the machine can be minimized.
