    • The present invention relates to a polarization device, polarization plate and video display device having superior durability and heat resistance, wherein the proportions of zinc, boron and iodine within the polarization device are controlled within a certain range. According to one embodiment of the invention, there are provided: a polarization device the zinc content whereof (wt%) × boron content (wt%) / iodine content (wt%) ranges from 0.1-3.0 at all points having a depth (D) from the center of the polarization device surface that is 0 = D = 200 nm (nanometers), and a polarization plate and video display device that include the polarization device. The polarization device, polarization plate and video display device according to one embodiment of the invention exhibit superior durability and heat resistance in which initial orthogonal transmission and colors are maintained, and transmission, polarization degree, and colors are maintained even under high temperature conditions.

    • There is provided a method of producing a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film polarizer having an excellent durability, the method comprising dyeing, cross-linking, stretching, and drying, wherein additives containing phosphorus is inputted into one or more of the dyeing, the cross- linking, and the stretching. In this case, the additives containing phosphorus may be selected from a group consisting of a phosphoric acid, potassium phosphate monobasic, potassium phosphate dibasic, magnesium phosphate dibasic, sodium phosphate monobasic, and ammonium phosphate monobasic. An amount of the additives containing phosphorus in an added solution may be 0.01 to 15 wt%. As described above, when inputting the additives containing phosphorus while producing a polarizer, cross-linking between iodine and a polymer matrix becomes strong due to the phosphorus contained in the additives, thereby producing a polarizer having an excellent durability, and particularly, an excellent thermal stability.

    • There is provided a method for producing a polarizer having improved cross transmittance. The method for producing a polarizer includes: dyeing a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-based film with molecular iodine by immersing the PVA- based film in an aqueous iodine solution (a dyeing step); absorbing the molecular iodine into the PVA- based film using an aqueous boric acid solution (a cross-linking step); arranging the molecular iodine in the certain direction by stretching the PVA-based film in a certain direction (an stretching step); and drying, in an oven, the PVA-based film in which the molecular iodine is oriented; wherein a phosphate compound is added to the iodine aqueous solution(the dyeing step) or the aqueous boric acid solution(the stretching step) so that a weight ratio of the boric acid : the phosphate compound is in a range of 1:0.1 to 1:10.

    • The present invention relates to modified polyvinyl alcohol resins, containing an introduced acryl group and a hydroxy group formed during introduction of the acryl group; an adhesive containing the modified polyvinyl alcohol resins with strong adhesion, moisture resistance, and water resistance; and an adhesive containing polyvinyl alcohol resins and a compound having epoxy and acryl groups and a polarizer and display device containing the same. According to one implementation, the present invention provides an adhesive for a polarizer, containing modified polyvinyl alcohol resins containing an introduced acryl group and a hydroxyl group formed during introduction of the acryl group; an adhesive for a polarizer containing 100 weight parts of polyvinyl alcohol resin and 0.001-10 weight parts of a compound with the epoxy and acryl groups; and a polarizer and display device containing the adhesives. The adhesive for a polarizer not only have strong adhesion, moisture resistance, and water resistance, but also have high water solubility. In addition, the adhesive enhances adhesion while maintaining physical property of a conventional polyvinyl alcohol resin adhesive.

    • The present invention relates to an outstandingly durable and more particularly heat-resistant polarising element, polarising plate and image-display device in which the zinc, boron and potassium contents are controlled within a specific range, and to a production method for the polarising element. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a polarising element in which, based on the weight of the polarising element, the value of zinc content (wt.%) x boron content (wt.%)/potassium content (wt.%) is from 0.1 to 4.0, and the boron content is from 1.0 to 5.0 wt.% and the potassium content is from 0.3 to 2.0 wt.%, and provides a polarising plate and an image-display device comprising the same. Further, the invention provides a production method for a polarising element at least comprising the steps of dyeing, crosslinking and washing, in which: in the dyeing step, a poly(vinyl alcohol) based film is immersed for between 150 and 300 seconds in an aqueous dyeing solution having an iodine concentration of from 0.05 to 0.2 wt.%, a potassium iodide concentration of from 0.2 to 1.5 wt.% and a temperature of from 20 to 40°C; in the crosslinking step, the poly(vinyl alcohol) based film is immersed for between 30 and 120 seconds in an aqueous crosslinking solution having a boron concentration of from 0.36 to 0.83 wt.%, a potassium iodide concentration of from 4 to 7 wt.% and a temperature of from 15 to 60°C; at least one type of zinc salt selected from the group comprising zinc chloride, zinc iodide, zinc sulphate, zinc nitrate and zinc acetate is included, at a concentration of from 0.4 to 7.0 wt.% in at least one aqueous solution constituted by either the aqueous dyeing solution or the aqueous crosslinking solution or another zinc-salt aqueous processing solution; and, in the washing step, the poly(vinyl alcohol) based film is immersed for between 10 and 30 seconds in pure water at a temperature of from 25 to 30°C. The polarising element, polarising plate and image-display device of one embodiment of the present invention exhibit outstanding durability and heat-resistance in that they maintain their initial orthogonal transmittance and colour tone, and they maintain their transmittance, degree of polarisation and colour tone even under high-temperature conditions.
