摘要： The present invention relates to a medium discrimination apparatus and a discrimination method thereof. The present invention is configured such that a first magnetic sensor (110a) and a second magnetic sensor (110b) sense the magnetic component printed at a predetermined portion of paper money when the paper money is introduced through a paper money inlet unit, and transmit analog signals for the sensed magnetic component to a first amplifying/band-pass filter (120a) and a second amplifying/band-pass filter (120b), respectively. Subsequently, the first and second amplifying/band-pass filters (120a, 120b) receive the analog signals, amplify the received signals, and filter noise contained in the amplified analog signals. A differential AD (Analog-to-Digital) converter (130) performs a subtraction function based on the filtered two analog signals, and converts the analog signals into a digital signal. As a result, a single digital signal can be obtained, in which most of the noise is cancelled. A control unit (140) reads the thus-obtained digital signal to discriminate if the introduced paper money is genuine or counterfeit. Here, the time taken to carry out an operation can be shortened because the control unit (140) reads the single digital signal. Accordingly, the present invention has advantages of improving the ability of discriminating paper money and shortening the time taken for said discrimination.
