摘要： A wood treatment composition for the preservation of wood comprises a mixture of creosote and a polymer which is miscible with the creosote at about 200°F. and does not substantially phase-separate when the wood treatment composition is under ambient conditions. The polymer may include, but is not limited to, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers, ethylene methyl acrylate copolymers, ethylene ethyl acrylate copolymers, ethylene butyl acrylate copolymers, ethylene acrylic acid copolymers, ethylene methacrylic acid copolymers, ethylene methyl methacrylic acid copolymers, ethylene styrene interpolymers, styrene acrylic acid copolymers, styrene methacrylic acid copolymers, styrene methyl acrylate copolymers, styrene butadiene styrene block copolymers, styrene ethylene butylene styrene block copolymers, or a blend thereof. Preferably, the creosote is present in an amount of at least 50 percent by weight of the composition. Such compositions can be used to treat wood surfaces to prolong the service life of the wood.

摘要： The present invention pertains to carpet and method of making it. In one aspect, the carpet includes (a) a primary backing which has a face and a back surface, (b) a plurality of fibers attached to the primary backing and extending from the face of the primary backing and exposed at the back surface of the primary backing, (c) an adhesive backing, (d) an optional secondary backing adjacent to the adhesive backing, and (e) at least one homogeneously branched linear ethylene polymer. The method includes extrusion coating at least one homogeneously branched linear ethylene polymer onto the back surface of a primary backing to provide an adhesive backing. The method can include additional steps or procedures, either separately or in various combinations. Additional steps and procedures include preheating the primary backing prior the extrusion step, multilayer adhesive backings, washing or scouring the primary backing prior the extrusion step, and utilizing adhesive polymeric additives, high heat content fillers, blowing agents and/or implosion agents. The constructions and methods described herein are particularly suited for making carpet tile.

摘要： An ethylene polymer extrusion composition having high drawdown and substantially reduced neck-in, a process for making such a composition and a process of using such a composition to prepare extrusion coatings, extrusion profiles and extrusion cast films are disclosed. The ethylene polymer extrusion composition is made of 75-95 weight percent of at least one ethylene alpha -olefin interpolymer and 5-25 weight percent of at least one high pressure ethylene polymer characterized as having high melt strength and a broad, bimodal molecular weight distribution. In profiles, coatings or films, the composition can be used as sealant, adhesive or abuse resistance layers.

摘要： The present invention pertains to carpet and methods of making carpet. In one aspect, the carpet includes (a) a primary backing (11) which has a face and a back surface, (b) a plurality of fibers (12) attached to the primary backing and extending from the face of the primary backing and exposed at the back surface of the primary backing, (c) an adhesive backing (13), (d) an optional secondary backing (14) adjacent to the adhesive backing, and (e) at least one homogeneously branched ethylene polymer. The method includes extrusion coating at least one homogeneously branched ethylene polymer onto the back surface of a primary backing to provide an adhesive backing. The method can include additional steps or procedures, either separately or in various combinations. Additional steps and procedures include washing or scouring the primary backing and fibers prior to the extrusion step, and utilizing implosion agents. The preferred homogeneously branched ethylene polymer is a substantially linear ethylene polymer. The constructions and methods described herein are particularly suited for making tufted, broad-loom carpet having improved abrasion resistance.

摘要： A HF responsive composition is described comprising (A) a molecular sieve material, and (B) at least one interpolymer comprising (i) polymer units derived from at least one aliphatic olefin monomer having from 2 to 20 carbon atoms; and (ii) polymer units derived from (a) at least one vinyl or vinylidene aromatic monomer, or (b) from at least one sterically hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinyl or vinylidene monomer, or (c) from a combination of at least one vinyl or vinylidene aromatic monomer and at least one sterically hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinyl or vinylidene monomer, and optionally (d) polymer units derived from at least one ethylenically unsatured polymerizable monomer other than that derived from (a), (b) or (c). The HF responsive composition of the invention can be heated in a dielectric heating process and is useful, for example, to make articles of manufacture which are formed or assembled using HF welding technology.
