    • An exhaust purification catalyst diagnosis device for diagnosing a degree of performance degradation of a NOx catalyst, which is provided in an exhaust system of an engine for exhaust purification, has a program that determines whether temperature of the NOx catalyst is within a predetermined diagnosis permission range before catalyst diagnosis processing and a program that controls the temperature of the NOx catalyst into the diagnosis permission range before the catalyst diagnosis processing if it is determined that the temperature of the NOx catalyst is outside the diagnosis permission range.     • An engine torque control apparatus is applied to an engine control system comprising an engine for rotating an output shaft by using torque generated through combustion in cylinders. In the apparatus, exhaust gas passing through an exhaust passage of the engine is partially recirculated into an intake passage of the engine. Also, variable control is conducted in the apparatus, when an air-fuel ratio indicating a proportion between air and fuel supplied into the cylinders of the engine is changed to a leaner air-fuel ratio, so that torque parameters for increasing/decreasing output torque of the engine can be variably controlled. As a result, torque fluctuation associated with a temporarily changing recirculated uncombusted fuel quantity can be cancelled in a manner suitable for the temporarily changing recirculated uncombusted fuel quantity, at least during a predetermined period immediately after timing for changing the air-fuel ratio.

    • An exhaust purification device has a NOx catalyst that occludes NOx contained in exhaust gas at a lean air fuel ratio and that purifies (reduces) and discharges the occluded NOx at a rich air fuel ratio. The device performs full purge for discharging substantially an entirety of the occluded NOx at once based on establishment of an execution condition of the full purge to recover exhaust purification performance of the NOx catalyst. The device has a program for performing partial purge for discharging only part of the occluded NOx before the execution of the full purge.
