摘要： A print mediator includes an interface module which serves as an interface for a document to be submitted for printing. The interface module communicates with an associated printing infrastructure for acquiring color rendering information for a print queue of the printing infrastructure. A reviewing application receives the acquired color rendering information and generates a visual representation of a document to be submitted for printing based thereon. Problems relating to color rendering by the printing infrastructure are detected and proposals for correction are presented to the submitter by the reviewing application. The user can review the proposals and accept or reject them as well as making annotations on the document. An analogous reviewing application is accessed by the print shop operator to review the document and submitter's annotations.

摘要： A system suited to correction of red eyes in images includes a detection module which, for a plurality of pixels in a digital image, assigns a probability that a pixel is within a red eye. The probability has a value which may vary from a minimum value to maximum value. A classifier module classifies a patch of the image comprising a region of contiguous pixels which have at least a threshold probability that the pixel is within a red eye. The classifier module distinguishing patches which have a likelihood of including a red eye from other patches which have a likelihood of containing a face or background error rather than a redeye. A correction module assigns a correction to apply to pixels which are in a region of contiguous pixels having at least the threshold probability that the pixel is within a red eye and for which the associated patch has been identified by the classifier as having a probability of including a red eye.

For example, a visual representation of the print-preview version of a document can be displayed and a selected object within the visual representation can be annotated with a statement containing a natural language description of any color differences between the selected object and the same object in the selected-for-print-preview version of the document. By annotating selected object(s) on the display in this manner, the embodiments provide an accurate indication of color variations between the two versions even in a non-calibrated and/or non-optimal viewing environment.

摘要： A system and method enable semi-automated generation of query expansion rules for searching a knowledge base. Candidate synonymy pairs are automatically extracted from queries made by users when searching a knowledge base. Synonymy rules are defined, based on the extracted candidate synonymy pairs, and may be context dependent. Query expansion rules based on the defined synonymy rules can then be exported to a storage medium for use in expansion of new user queries when searching the knowledge base.
