    • A mixer impeller having high efficiency blades. The impeller may include a central hub and a plurality of blades attached to and extending radially outwardly from the hub such that leading edges thereof are inclined upwardly from trailing edges thereof. Each of the blades may include a root attached to the hub, a tip, a first crease extending along substantially an entire length of the blade dividing the blade into a leading portion and a trailing portion, the leading and trailing portions meeting at the first crease such that the leading portion is angled downwardly from the trailing portion, and a second crease extending from a portion of the leading edge of the leading portion between the root and the tip diagonally along the leading portion to the tip, the second crease intersecting the tip at a point spaced from a point where the first crease intersects the tip, the second crease forming a tip portion of the leading portion that needs a remainder of the leading portion such that the tip portion is angled downwardly from the leading portion.

    • A high efficiency impeller has blades which are formed of plate material. Each blade has a first span-wise bend which extends generally parallel to the trailing edge and through about the center of the blade measured cord-wise and extending the length of the blade from the root end to the tip end. The first bend divides the blade into a back portion and a front portion. The front portion is further divided by a second bend line which extends from the intersection of the first bend line with the tip of the blade diagonally to the leading edge of the blade at a point about one-fifth to one-third the span-wise length outwardly from the blade root. The material of the blade is bent about each of the bend lines, in the same direction, to provide camber and concavity for the blade. The leading and trailing edges of the blade are chamfered.

    • A steady bearing for supporting the extended end of an impeller shaft at the bottom of a mixing vessel provides adjustment for the alignment of the position of the shaft within the vessel and includes a bearing support stand with legs extending to the bottom of the tank or vessel, and a plate which is supported off of the bottom. A steady bearing housing has a bearing sleeve which receives the end of the shaft and has a mounting flange which extends radially of the housing and is mounted or received in abutting relation to the bearing support plate. Couplers in the form of slotted circular discs are received in recesses in the bearing housing mounting flange. The slots have threaded fasteners which extend therethrough and into the support plate, so that the radial position of the steady bearing housing with respect to the support stand may be made accompanied by rotational movement of the coupler discs within their respective recesses. Thereafter, the fasteners are tightened down to maintain the adjustable position. The steady bearing may be adjusted either from a position within the tank or through an opening in the bottom of the tank.

    • An in-line laminar flow motionless mixer mixes a low viscosity fluid into a high viscosity fluid. A first conduit section receives the high viscosity fluid and has a first set of slots. Injector nozzles extend into the first conduit section ahead of the slots with orifices which add the low viscosity fluid in the form of sheets. A second tubular section has a second series of slots formed orthogonally to the slots in the first section, and an annular connective jacket encloses the first and second set of slots and provides a flow path between the sections. A flow distributor extends within the respective and provides flow equalization. Method of mixing includes the injection of a low viscosity fluid as a striation. The composite flow is diverted circumferentially radially outwardly causing laminar shear mixing. The outward flow is cut into a smaller individual flows by slots, causing distributive and extensional mixing. The flows are recombined causing further distributive and laminar shear mixing. The combined flow is turned circumferentially radially inwardly and divided into smaller individual flows by a second plurality of slots, causing extensional and shear mixing to the composite flow, and the composite flow is recombined into an outflow.
