    • Systems and methods (1200, 1300) for attaching/detaching a battery assembly (106) from an electronic device. The battery assembly comprises top and bottom covers (112, 304) coupled together. First latches (206a, 206b) protrude out and away from a first end edge portion of the top cover. The first latches rotate into latching engagement with first latch surfaces (402) of the electronic device (100). Second latches (302a, 302b) protrude out and away from a second end edge portion of the bottom cover which is opposed from the first end edge portion of the top cover. The second latches snap into latching engagement with second latch surfaces (308a, 308b) of the electronic device. Dual-action buttons (110a, 110b) facilitate the latching engagement/disengagement of the second latches to/from the electronic device. The first and second latches facilitate a deflection of the battery assembly towards the electronic device when the battery assembly is attached thereto.

    • A user control knob retention system includes a nut (20) which has a base (25). The base includes two opposing nut end faces (23a, 23b), and a threaded bore (21) aligned with a base central axis (29). A wall (27) extends transversely from a first one of the nut end faces. The wall defines an inner surface (42) which comprises a circular arc coaxial with the central axis. The wall extends at least partially around a circumference of the base to define a capture space (26). An insert (30) rotatably retained within the capture space includes a body having a cylindrical shape. A retention barb (34) disposed on an outer cylindrical surface of the insert is configured for engaging an interlocking element (54) formed on an interior bore (58) of a user control knob (50).

    • A switch assembly (1) includes a rotary electrical switch body (13) having a plurality of switch positions, a switch stem (12) extending along a first axis (32) and having a first and second ends, the first end engaging the rotary switch (14) for alternating the rotary switch body between the plurality of switch positions responsive to rotation of the switch stem about the first axis, and a knob assembly (10). The knob assembly includes a knob core contacting the second end of the switch stem, a knob collar (22) contacting the knob core and adapted for rotating the knob core and the switch stem about the first axis, where the knob collar includes a first upper stop member (46), and a stop cam (20) having a fixed position relative to the switch stem and disposed between the knob core and the rotary switch, where the stop cam includes a lower stop member (31) having a feature for engaging the first upper stop member when the first upper stop member and the lower stop member are disposed along a common path. In the switch assembly, the first upper stop member travels in a circumferential path normal to the first axis responsive to the knob collar rotating the knob core and the switch stem, where the knob collar is displaceable along the first axis between first and second axial positions, where the lower stop member is in the circumferential path when the knob collar is in the first axial position, and where the lower stop member is removed from the circumferential path when the knob collar is in the second axial position.
