摘要： A system and method are provided that use a formable bone plate and a clamping apparatus for small bone reconstruction. The formable bone plate includes a plate body having a plurality of nodes separated by internodes. Each node includes a hole formed therein for receiving a screw, wire, tack, or other fixation device screwed or placed into a bone. A clamp engages an engagement section of the node to facilitate bending of at least one of the internodes to contour the plate to the bone in-situ or ex-situ and when at least partly screwed to or not screwed to the bone.

摘要： An internal device is provided for stabilizing a joint having multiple axes of rotation. The device includes two axles, separated by a body portion. The two axles are maintained by the body portion in a geometric relationship that replicates the geometric relationship of the rotational axes of the joint. The axles are installed into the bones of the joint to stabilize the joint.

摘要： A bone plate includes at least one torsional modification feature (TMF). Each TMF is structured to decrease the torsional rigidity of the plate relative to longitudinally opposite portions, but may be modified to increase the torsional rigidity thereat. Each TMF is defined by beams contiguous with the lateral sides of the plate, and an opening extending laterally therebetween. In a preferred embodiment, opposed projections extend into the opening to define threaded discontinuous wall portions for receiving an insert, such as a set screw. In one embodiment, bioabsorbable and/or bioactive inserts may be used to temporarily increase the torsional rigidity of the plate during initial fixation and thereafter have reduced torsional rigidity to mimic normal callus. The plate is preferably used with fixed angle fasteners that may be subject to high torsional loads post-operatively.

摘要： A fixation system includes a plate intended to be positioned against a bone, a plurality of bone screws for securing the plate along an non-fractured portion of the bone, and a plurality of bone pegs which extend from the plate and into bone fragments of the fracture to provide a supporting framework. The pegs can be oriented at various angles relative to an axis normal to the lower surface of the plate. For each peg, once the peg has been appropriately positioned within the peg hole, a set screw is threaded into the peg hole and tightened, thereby securing the peg in the selected orientation.
