A mould (26) for making the post (10) has a mould body, which is flexible and/or disposable, and has moulding compartments (44) therein. Tip and top end plates (46, 48) are provided to produce a tip end and a top end for the post. The body is held within side members (28, 30), there being dogs (82) on end support members (62, 76) which act upon the side members (28, 30) to releasably hold said mould body in a moulding position by laterally compressing the side members (62, 76) and locating the end support members (62, 76) on said mould body. Upper and lower dogs are provided at the ends of each compartment for retaining strap. A tensioning device may be used to tension the strap before it is dogged off.

摘要： An optical element mount has an inner member suspended within an outer member by a number of flexures. A first translational actuator is movable within the outer member and coupled to the inner member by a first shaft and is actuable to translate the inner member along a first substantially linear travel path within a translation plane that is orthogonal to an optical axis. A second translational actuator is movable within the outer member and coupled to the inner member by a second shaft and is actuable to translate the inner member along a second substantially linear travel path within the translation plane. A rotational actuator is movable within the outer member and coupled to the inner member by a third shaft and actuable to rotate the inner member about an instant point of rotation that is defined at the intersection of the first and second linear travel paths.

摘要： The invention provides for a rotary valve of the type employed for transporting solid material between zones having a fluid pressure differential, with a minimum fluid leakage between the zones. The valve has a housing with a bore, passages communicating with the bore and designed to be coupled to the respective zones, and a rotor which is housed within the bore. The rotor is defined by an axial drive shaft, a pair of spaced end plates on the shaft and a series of radial vanes disposed between the end plates. The valve is formed with material deflecting formations on the peripheral surfaces of the end plates the formations being adapted for urging material inwardly into the zone intermediate the end plates upon rotation of the rotor in a predetermined direction.

In a propelling pencil similar in general construction to that described in Specification 489,881, the magazine 31 and lead guide tube 32 are formed from one piece of tubular metal, drawn or swaged to form the lead guide tube, such that a shoulder 34 between the tube 32 and magazine 31 provides the bottom of the magazine and a seating for one end of the return spring 46. The magazine 31, guide tube 32, spring 46 and a guide bushing 11 for a constricting member 52 are a unitary assembly slidable into position in the barrel and retained therein by engagement of cooperating screw means on the guide bushing and the barrel tip. A clutch having a head 38 fitting into an expanded socket 32a of the tube is retained by an inwardly bent lip 32b engaging the underside of the head 38. The bushing 11 is retained cn the guide tube by a collar 11a on the bushing operating with the upper end of the socket 32a. A rubber eraser 55 is retained within a reversible cap 64 by a socket 55a having spring tongues 55b for frictional engagement with the inner surface of the cap.

摘要： A temperature compensator for a fluid flow meter, e.g. an industrial gas meter, has a temperature sensing element which contacts the flow of fluid being metered. The temperature sensing element adjusts the position of a cam surface so as to limit the arc of travel of an oscillating cam striker element in accordance with the temperature of the fluid. The cam striker element is driven in both directions by means operatively associated with a driving element driven by the fluid flow. A recorder records the distance travelled by the cam striker element in a given time, so as to provide a reading of temperature compensated fluid flow.
