Foot-arch supports. - A protective pad or cover of material other than metal and differing from that of the inner sole, is localized at an edge of a foot-arch support plata which would normally bear on the inner sole. The protector may consist of one or more layers of hard-wearing woven fabric, horn, ebonite, or celluloid. As shown, a protector 1 of horn overlaps the end of the metal plate 2, and is secured to the leather cover 3, for instance, by rivets 4; or several layers of material may be attached to the cover by adhesive. A layer of a plastic material such as celluloid may be applied to the edge of the plate and cover, and the plate may be perforated to enable the celluloid to be keyed thereto, or may be turned over or provided with lugs to form a bearing surface embedded in plastic material. Other arrangements comprise a pocket-shaped protector with a tongue inserted in a slot in the plate, and a cap which may be slipped over the end of the plate, with a layer between the plate and cover.

The plate d may be notched as shown, or have one side notch and one end notch, or both notches may be at the ends ; or a notched plate d may be rotatably secured to a second plate having perforations through which the studs pass. The eyed spring wire g may be attached to the pad b, and the plate d may be replaced by a perforated unnotched plate, the perforations of which are provided with spring wire clips to engage under the stud heads. A covering layer e of rubber may be pasted over the pad b.

摘要： An accommodating intraocular lens is provided in which a deflectable lens element is anchored to a substrate along its optical axis to define a fluid filled space. Fluid-filled haptics disposed in fluid communication with the space vary the fluid volume in the space responsive to forces applied by the ciliary muscles, thereby causing the periphery of the lens element to deflect relative to the substrate and changing the optical power of the intraocular lens.

A seat back is pivotally mounted to the seat cushion and is selectively movably angularly relative to the seat cushion. A pair of hinges pivotally receives the seat back and is linked to the seat cushion, whereby movement of the seat cushion from the operative condition to the standup condition rotates the pair of hinges, generally aligning the seat cushion and the seat back when the seat cushion is tumbled forward.
