摘要： A delivery device for an annular implant that includes a balloon expansion mechanism and an annular implant having an adjustable dimension. The balloon expansion mechanism includes an inflation tube attached to a non-occluding balloon collar which is supported by trusses radially extending from a trocar. The annular implant further includes a flexible ring core, contiguous coiled spacers, and anchoring blocks. The flexible ring core is adjusted via a cinching mechanism. The anchoring blocks are spaced along the ring core by the contiguous coiled spacers, which keeps the distance between each pair of anchoring blocks equidistant as the ring core diameter is manipulated by the device user. The annular implant can also include gunbarrel elements housed in the trocar. Each gunbarrel element contains a gunbarrel pusher which drives an attachment element into the annular implant and annular tissue.

摘要： Sealable and repositionable implant devices are provided with one or more improvements that increase the ability of implants such as endovascular grafts to be precisely deployed or re-deployed, with better in situ accommodation to the local anatomy of the targeted recipient anatomic site, and/or with the ability for post-deployment adjustment to accommodate anatomic changes that might compromise the efficacy of the implant. A surgical implant includes an implant body and a selectively adjustable assembly attached to the implant body, having adjustable elements, and operable to cause a configuration change in a portion of the implant body and, thereby, permit implantation of the implant body within an anatomic orifice to effect a seal therein under normal physiological conditions.

摘要： A preformed mandible splint and a method of aligning and stabilizing a fractured mandible with such a splint is disclosed. The splint is configured to approximate the curvature of the lower teeth or the gingiva of the lower jaw. The curvature of an eight inch diameter sphere approaches the geometric curvature of the human teeth and gum, therefore, the similarly configured splint of the present invention is usable for almost any child or adult. The splint is approximately U-shaped, follows the human dental arcade, and has rows of holes or slots along its outer and inner perimeter. The splint is placed on the teeth or gingiva and wired through the holes or slots to the mandible thus correctly aligning the mandible. Fractures can then be screwed into place according to the curvature of the splint. This eliminates the need of wiring the patient's jaw shut as is presently done in current interdigitation techniques where even minute errors in mandibular repair results in flagrant morbidities in the patient. The U-shape allows the patient's tongue to freely move. Because the splint uniformly fits the population it can be preformed. The gumline follows the same curvature as the teeth, therefore the splint may be used on those without teeth by being placed directly on the gingiva.
