A roof truss comprises two folding parts, each with a rafter 4 pivotally connected to a tie 3 near one end, to a queen tie 5 at the other, and to notched strut 6 near the middle. When the truss is erected, the tie beams of the two parts overlap side-by-side until the end of one tie is adjacent the ends of the strut and the queen tie of the other part. The joints so formed are then bolted up, with shear plates or timber connectors being used between the ties and the queen ties.

[Class 103 (i)] An automatic brake adjuster for internal expanding brakes comprises a cam surface E, carried by a shoe F, which is in contact with a roller A eccentrically positioned on a ratchet wheel G, the spindle of which passes through the back plate of the brake drum and is under the influence of a spring C which tends to maintain the roller A in contact with the cam. A spring-pressed pawl B is mounted on the shoe and engages the teeth of the ratchet wheel. When the shoes are expanded, the wheel G turns and the roller A rides up the cam surface E. If the wear is excessive a tooth on the ratchet wheel slips under the pawl and the slack is taken up. The pivot pin of the pawl B is slack in its bearing so that if the pawl slips one tooth in the fully expanded position of the shoe then on releasing the brake the shoe will have a small clearance with the drum.
