摘要： A sealed battery includes a can for receiving an electric generator, a sealing member crimped on an opening of the can and connected to one of a positive electrode and a negative electrode of the electric generator, a gasket disposed between the can and the sealing member, a cover cap disposed on the sealing member with an insulating member disposed between the cover cap and the sealing member, a current control member disposed between the cover cap and the sealing member to cut-off a flow of current when a temperature of the battery is increased above an allowable level, and a shock absorber disposed between the cover cap and the current control member to prevent shock from being directly transmitted to the current control member.

摘要： A rechargeable battery that can improve heat dissipating characteristics is provided. The rechargeable battery includes: an electrode group including a positive electrode; an electrode group that has at least one terminal; a case that defines a recess that receives the electrode group wherein the case includes an opening that provides access to the recess; a film cover that extends over the opening so as to secure the electrode group within the recess of the case; and a heat dissipating member positioned on the case so as extend outward from the case to dissipate heat from the recess containing the electrode group. Multiple batteries can be assembled into modules where the batteries are stacked so that the film covers are protected from external impact.

摘要： A positive active material for a rechargeable lithium battery is provided. The positive active material includes at least one compound selected from the group consisting of lithiated compounds, a metal oxide layer formed on a surface of the compound and metal oxide masses adhered on the metal oxide layer. The positive active material is produced by coating a compound with a metal alkoxide solution, an organic solution of a metal salt or an aqueous solution of a metal salt and heat-treating the coated compound. The compound is selected from the group consisting of lithiated compounds. Thereafter, the heat-treated compound is slow-cooled to 100 to 500° C. and the cooled compound is quenched to room temperature.

摘要： A secondary cell capable of ensuring thermal and mechanical stabilities required for a high-capacity cell with a simple structure is provided. The secondary cell includes: a can; and an electrode jelly-roll wound with two different electrodes and a separator interposed between the electrodes therein and accommodated in the can, the outer surface of the electrode jelly-roll being wound around one more turn with the separator. Only the separator is wound at the core of the electrode jelly-roll to form a rod-like stability member which is cured by absorbing heat generated from the cell. The separator wound at the core of the electrode jelly-roll is continuous from a portion of the separator which is stacked with the two different electrodes.
