摘要： Compositions and methods for production of color images using leuco dye-containing color forming compositions are described. The color forming composition can include a color forming leuco dye, a metal salt activator, a suppression agent configured for inhibiting the activity of the metal salt activator until application of energy in the form of heat or light, and an initiator precursor. The initiator precursor is capable of liberating scavenger species which reduce the inhibiting action of the suppression agent. The color forming compositions can be single phase mixtures of a leuco dye, metal salt activator, suppression agent, and initiator precursor which are stable under ambient conditions and form a colored composition upon application of energy.

摘要： A water-soluble phthalocyanine dye or naphthalocyanine dye with near-infrared absorption comprises at least one complexed unit. Each unit comprises a phthalocyanine or a naphthalocyanine moiety and, optionally, a metal atom complexed thereto and, if present, having a valency of from 1 to 5, with two valencies complexed to the phthalocyanine ring or the naphthalocyanine ring. Each unit has two linker moieties on opposite sides or adjacent sides of the unit, wherein water-soluble groups are present on at least one of the linkers, on the metal atom, and optionally on the phthalocyanine or naphthalocyanine moiety.

摘要： A composite color includes a first colored ink and a second colored ink. The first colored ink exhibits a color that is different from that exhibited by the second colored ink. The first colored ink includes pigment particles either formulated at a basic pH so that a surface of the pigment particles carries a net negative charge or formulated at an acidic pH so that a surface of the pigment particles carries a net positive charge; and the second colored ink includes pigment particles either formulated at an acidic pH so that a surface of each of the pigment particles carries a net positive charge or formulated at a basic pH so that a surface of the pigment particles carries a net negative charge. The first colored ink and the second colored ink have opposite charges. The composite color exhibits enhanced color richness when printed on a substrate.

The optical beam has a wavelength to which the layer is uniquely sensitive as compared to other of the layers, to sufficiently heat the layer so as to cause the region to change from at least substantially translucent to a color to which the layer corresponds.
