    • A prefabricated room module (1) is provided for use in the construction of a modular building. The room module comprises a floor slab (2) of generally rectangular shape in plan, and load bearing walls (3,4) formed at adjacent sides of the slab and mutually adjoining at a common corner (5). The module has no ceiling slab opposite the floor slab (2) and an open face opposite one of the load bearing walls (4) which constitutes a party wall. Opposite another of the load bearing walls (3) the module may be open or include a further wall (7) which can have an access opening (10) therein for providing service access to a kitchen or bathroom pod (9) installed in a corner of the module. Edges of the floor slab (2) have projecting tongues (11) and fastening means for engaging complementary recesses and fastening means respectively of an adjacent module. The module may have a ceiling slab instead of a floor slab (2).

[Class 40 (iv)] An impulse transmitter or an apparatus blank mounted in a circular aperture in a support or stand is locked in the aperture of the stand in such a way that it can be unlocked and removed from the stand by operations which can be completely performed on the outside of the stand. A desk-set has a circular aperture 9 formed with recesses 4 engaged by lugs 3'for the insertion of the dial casing into the set and having a cam groove 8 sloping towards and ending adjacent a slot 7 which extends to the outside of the set. A spring loop 5 located inside the dial casing has one end fixed and the other end provided with a radial projection 6 extending through a slot in the casing. The projection 6 which is opposite the deep end of the groove 8 when the lugs 3 register with the recesses 4 snaps into the slot 7 when the dial is rotated in a clockwise direction. To remove the dial, the projection 6 is forced inwardly by a tool inserted in the slot 7 and the dial is rotated in an anticlockwise direction until the lugs 3 are again opposite the recesses 4. In an alternative construction, Figs. 3, 5, a spring 11 secured adjacent the dial aperture is moved inwardly by one of the lugs 3 when the dial is inserted and returns to a locking position when released by rotation of the dial in a clockwise direction. The dial is released for withdrawal by its rotation in an anticlockwise direction after the spring 11 has been depressed by a pin 17 inserted through a hole 18 adjacent the finger stop 22. The flexural movement of the spring 11 is limited by a stop member 16. The locking-spring may be integral with a flat or L-shaped ring secured to the inner surface of the set around the dial aperture.

Apparatus for cutting stone and the like comprises means 15 for carrying a plurality of blades 16 in cutting relation to a block 17 to be cut, means 19 . . . 25 for reciprocating the blades, and means for moving the blades and block relative to each other as the block is cut. The means 15 consists of a rectangular frame supporting the plurality of blades 16 which may have diamond inserts 16a in their cutting edges. The frame is formed with upstanding brackets 14 securely retaining rods 13 slidable in bearing 12 longitudinally adjustable on a pair of beams 14. The ends of the beams are provided with saddles 6 in screw-threaded engagement with vertical screws 5 which are supported in uprights 3 and connected by bevel gearing and a shaft 9 to reduction gearing 11 and a variable geared electric motor 10. The frame 15 is reciprocated in the bearings 12 by a connecting rod 21 connected to a crank 22 belt-driven by an electric motor 25. In operation, the block to be cut is positioned by means of a bogie 26 beneath the saw blades 16, and the bearings 12 are adjusted on the beams 4 to be within the dimensions of the block. The saws are then reciprocated by the crank mechanism at the same time as they are fed downwardly by the drive from the motor 10 to the beams 4. During cutting water is fed to the blades through perforated pipes disposed above the blades. In an alternative embodiment, the block is raised relative to the blades. The relative movement between the block and blades may be effected by hydraulic or other mechanical means.

    • An accurate blending system for blending a feed liquid and first and second adjusting liquids includes a first feed means adapted to communicate with a supply of feed liquid, a second feed means adapted to communicate with a supply of the first adjusting liquid and a third feed means adapted to communicate with a supply of the second adjusting liquid. The first, second and third feed means may be pumps, valves or combinations thereof. A mixing device is in communication with the first, second and third feed means. First and second sensors are in communication with the mixing device. A controller communicates with the first and second sensors so that first and second characteristics of the solution in the mixing device can be detected. The controller also communicates with the first and second feed means so that delivery of first and second adjusting liquid to the mixing device can be controlled based upon the detected first and second characteristics of the solution in the mixing device.
