The security element comprises a first light transmitting carrier substrate and at least two regions of material extending substantially parallel to each other along at least a part of the length of the security element. A transverse gap of at least 1 mm lies between the regions of material. The security element further comprises an infill layer which at least partially fills the transverse gap between the regions of material. The infill layer transmits light, such that a layer located on an opposing side of the infill layer from the viewing side is visible through the infill layer when the security element is viewed in transmitted light.

摘要： A laminated bullet resistant glazing comprises a plurality of glass and plastic plies arranged in at least two layers including an outer layer and an inner layer. The outer layer extends beyond the inner layer so as to form a step which extends around at least part of the periphery of the glazing. The glazing is reinforced with a band positioned at least partially on the step and having at least first and second longitudinal faces, and in position the first longitudinal face is in contact with the step and the second longitudinal face is in contact with an adjacent portion of the glazing. Application of the band to the step enhances the support strength of the outer layer and enables the manufacture of a bullet resistant glazing having an outer layer reduced in thickness compared to prior bullet resistant glazings.

摘要： The present invention relates to improvements in security devices that can be used in various authenticating or security applications, and in particular to an optically variable security device which can be viewed under low light conditions. The security device comprises a light deflection structure having a first side and a second opposing side. A colourshifting layer is applied to the first side of the light deflection structure and a reflection layer is applied to at least a first region of the second side of the light deflection structure so as to provide a strong reflection in a direction substantially parallel to the incident light source when the direction of the incident light is at an angle away from the normal to the security device. The security device has at least one second region in which the reflection layer is absent, said first and second regions defining indicia.
