摘要： 9445. Orbison, J. B. April 25. Melting-furnaces.-Relates to rocking furnaces, adapted for burning liquid or gaseous fuel, for melting brass and other alloys or metals. The horse-shoe trough-shaped furnace 1 is oscillated by means of a crank 9, connecting-rod 10, and crank-pin 12 which is secured to the furnace. A hand-wheel 19 upon the trunnion 18 is also provided. Through the opposite trunnion 24, air from the pipe 23 and liquid fuel from the nozzle 22 are passed into the furnace. To secure a mixing of the metals under treatment, the longitudinal dam 32, shown in diagram in Fig. 5, is provided. A hood 5 is supported over the charging-hole 4. A clutch may be fitted to the crank shaft 11, while a slot permits of disengagement of the connecting- rod from the crank-pin 12.

Pottery, throwing and turning.-A machine for moulding a number of articles of pottery simultaneously comprises a one-piece mould 13 having a number of pockets 14, Fig. 3 therein, and a plurality of circularly arranged forming tools 9 adapted to be moved into engagement with the pockets and operated simultaneously therein. The tools 9 are mounted on stub shafts 7, Fig. 2, rotated by a central shaft 3 through gear wheels 5, 6. The mould is brought into engagement with the tools 9 by means of " an under frame " having an extension 10 raised by a lever 15. The frame 11 has an upstanding flange with diametrically offset oprtions 12 which prevent rotation of the mould, by the tools; the latter may be provided with detachable blades.

摘要： Described is a method and system by which reports of storage usage in computer systems are generated in an efficient manner by consolidating multiple requests for reports into a minimal number of volume scans, including by intelligently selecting a scanning method (e.g., of file system metadata versus find-first/find-next) and by performing parallel scans on different volumes. Namespace consolidation scans namespaces together, so as to generate multiple reports from the same set of files, reducing the number of volumes scans required to collect the data. Each volume scan may be a find-first, find next directory-based scan, or a volume metadata database scan. Time consolidation groups independent storage report generations together, such as storage report requests received within an administrator-specified interval. Parallel scans of different volumes may be performed, subject to I/O and processing resource limitations, and so that volumes partitioned on the same spindle are not scanned in parallel.
