摘要： 1,173,247. Power steering arrangements. JEFFREY GALION MFG. CO. 6 March, 1968 [17 May, 1967], No. 10985/68. Heading B7H. A vehicle steering system comprises a doubleacting hydraulic cylinder for pivoting a steerable wheel about a steering pivot, pressure fluid supply means to the cylinder to move a piston 37 in the cylinder and means 42 responsive to the pressure of the fluid in the cylinder at the end of a power stroke in one direction to permit flow of the hydraulic fluid from the cylinder. Ports 36 and 38 are provided at opposite ends the cylinder 25 (Fig. 2) for moving the piston 37 and when the piston reaches the left hand end of the cylinder 25 a check valve 43 is subject to the pressure fluid and opens to permit the fluid to flow through a by-pass passage 46 to a passage 40 which is connected to a reservoir. As shown in Fig. 3 two cylinders 25, 30 with by-pass valves 42, 42a are provided and their ends are cross-connected by fluid lines 55, 57, which are selectively connected by an open centre or other valve 52 to a pump 50 or reservoir 53, so that at the end of a right or left steering movement either one or other by-pass valve operates to relieve both cylinders.
