摘要： A method of protecting a two phase refrigeration unit from temperature fluctuations. A single phase cooling unit is placed outside of the building being cooled b y the two phase refrigeration unit. A heat exchanger is used as the condenser for the two phase refrigeration unit, with the two phase coolant circuit routed through the heat exchanger. A single phase coolant circuit is extended from the single phase cooling unit outside of th e building, into the building and through the heat exchanger. This provides a heat exchange betwe en the single phase coolant circuit and the two phase coolant circuit. A temperature senso r or pressure senor is selectively positioned along the two phase coolant circuit. Control s are provided to activate a circulation pump for the single phase coolant circuit whenever th e temperature or pressure of the two phase coolant circuit rises above a preset threshold and thereby maintain the two phase refrigeration unit operating with its two phase coolant within a desired operating temperature range.

摘要： This discloses an orthopedic surgical device or system (100) that may be used to reconstruct soft tissue, such as tendons and ligaments, within the knee or other parts of the body. More particularly, the device (100) may be used to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament. Components of the device, including a graft tissue component (112) slidably afixed to the seat component (114) and anchored within the tibia with a locking screw (120) are required for the reconstruction procedure and are typically assembled as a unit outside the knee. The components are introduced into a preformed bone tunnel as that unit. Components of the system and the use of the system and its components are also described.

摘要： This is a surgical device. More particularly, it is an intraosseous anchor for securing soft tissue, such as a tendon or ligament, to a cavity formed in a bone. The device itself preferably is formed in such a way that the soft tissue is pressed against the bone by the device to accelerate growth by the soft tissue and attachment to the bone. The device preferably utilizes anchor barbas on its exterior to grasp the soft tissue under conditions of improved distribution of tension and with a minimal disruption of the soft tissue-bone interface and the allied nutrient supplies. the anchor and soft tissue may be treated with osteogenic growth factors. Various processes of using the device are also shown.

摘要： A tissue approximation device and processes for using the device are provided. The device is an implantable, biodegradable construct (except for hernia repairs) that has attachment points emanating from a supportive backing. The device improves the mechanical phase of wound healing and evenly distributes tension over the contact area between the device and tissue. Processes for using the device include wound closure, vascular anastomoses, soft tissue attachment and soft tissue to bone attachment. Several variations are particularly applicable to facilitating tissue approximation in surgical cosmetic applications including, for example, orbital rim reconstruction and tissue suspension.

摘要： A tissue approximation device and method, particularly in the mid-face region, are provided. The device is an implantable, biodegradable construct that has attachment points emanating from a supportive backing. The device also has an extension member or leash which extends from the backing which is configured to receive a tissue or bone attachment device at one of a plurality of selectable locations along the elongated member, for example via engagement holes extending in a line away from the backing. Once tissue is engaged with the attachment points, the extension member is pulled until the tissue is approximated in the desired position. Then the appropriate extension member hole(s) are selected to attach the extension member to supportive tissue or bone (for example temporal fascia) for permanent tissue approximation.

摘要： Adjustable suture anchors are described herein. Suture anchors of the present invention accommodates various sutures and allow for repeated adjustment of suture lengths without having to knot the sutures. The anchors have a head portion, a shaft portion, and a through hole extending perpendicularly therebetween. The shaft portion is implanted within bone and the suture is attached to tissue and is passed within the through hole. Tension is adjusted to a desirable level and the free end of the suture is secured to the anchor. The suture is secured by wrapping it about the shaft inbetween the head portion and the bone surface and securing it within a notch defined in the head. To readjust the tension, the suture free end is pulled up and out of the notch, unwrapped from the shaft, and the tension is readjusted as necessary. Afterwards, the suture free end is resecured in the notch.
