摘要： Systems, tools and techniques for measuring downhole parameters are provided. The techniques involve providing a downhole tool with a sensing apparatus. The sensing apparatus has at least one source positionable about the downhole tool, at least one sensor electrode positionable about a front face of the downhole tool for measuring electrical signals from the source, and a raised insulating cover positionable along the front face of the downhole tool for defining at least one contact surface. The raised insulating cover extends over at least a portion of the sensor electrode whereby the sensor electrode is positionable adjacent to the subterranean formation for electrically coupling thereto without direct contact therewith.

摘要： Disclosed are apparatus and methods for preparing wellbore viscous treatment gels from dry polymer and water. The apparatus includes an eductor (406) which slurries dry polymer with water, at least two input tubes (220, 230) wherein one input tube is connected with the eductor, and another to a water source. The apparatus also includes a mixing chimney (100) connected to the input tubes. The mixing chimney includes a lower input section (110) with inlets connected to the input tubes wherein a jet of metered dilution water is applied at high pressure to the incoming polymer-water slurry stream. This mixture is then accelerated in a circular, and preferably upward, motion where it is sheared against the wall of a central section (120) of the chimney, without the use of an impeller. The chimney further includes an output section (130) that comprising holes (170) circumferentially located, through which the mixture passes from the central section and into a hydration tank (418). The mixture exiting the chimney is polymer-water gel which is essentially fully mixed and de-aerated, and at least partially hydrated.

摘要： A plug assembly includes an expandable assembly, a locking ring and a cup. The expandable assembly is adapted to be deformed radially over the locking ring and the cup. The locking ring has a stopping inner surface. The plug assembly is used with one or more untethered objects, the untethered objects having an outer surface adapted to couple with the cup, and the cup having an outer surface adapted to couple with the stopping inner surface of the locking ring. The combination of cup and untethered objects is also adapted to contact an inner surface of the plug assembly and, using well fluid pressure, to apply forces to the plug assembly. The forces cause the longitudinal movement of the cup and untethered objects while contacting the inner surface of the plug assembly until the cup contacts the stopping inner surface of the locking ring.

摘要： An anti-lock system, device and method for logging a wellbore (106) are presented. The anti-lock system of a downhole tool (104) preferably includes a first arm (200), a second arm (202), a pad (108), a swivel bearing between the first arm and the pad, and an anti-locking device. The first arm has an arm first end connected to the tool body (220) of the downhole tool and an arm second end connected to a first end of the pad. The second arm has an arm first end connected to the tool body of the downhole tool and an arm second end connected to a second end of the pad. The swivel bearing between the first arm and the pad pivotally connects the first arm to the pad. The anti-locking device is coupled to the swivel bearing, and preferably includes an anti-lock biasing (118) member for maintaining a connection between the first arm and the pad at the swivel bearing in an engaged position during normal logging and for allowing the connection to rotate toward a biased position when a binding force is encountered in the arm system.

摘要： An aeration system for circulating an aerating fluid through a chemical composition within a container. The aeration system is closed-loop such that the aeration fluid is supplied by a fluid supply system to the interior of a container to aerate the chemical composition therein. The aeration fluid is returned to the fluid supply system for subsequent redelivery to the container. A filtering mechanism may be employed to remove large particulate matter from the aeration fluid prior to flowing back to the fluid supply system. The aeration process improves the flowability of the chemical composition thus facilitating the transferring and/or discharging of the chemical composition from the container. The aeration process may occur during transport, prior to discharging, and/or during a discharging or transferring operation.
