Date May 15, 1997A position recognition apparatus for personal rapid transit. The personal rapid transit system comprises a chassis (40) for moving at the inside of a guideway (10) and a chamber for passengers being mounted on the chassis (40) at the outside of the guideway (10). The chassis (40) is provided with guidance wheels (41 and 42), electric linear motors (44a and 44b), a switching device, brakes, a control apparatus (70) and electric power supply devices. Bar code scanners (60a and 60b) are installed at both sides of the chassis (40) in the inside of the guideway (10). Bar codes include figures and letters indicating sections and positions at a certain interval on the guideway (10), and are printed on bar code members (50a and 50b) having a predetermined width which is made of plastics. The plastic bar code members (50a and 50b) on which the same bar codes are printed are attached to both sides of the guideway (10). The scanners (60a and 60b) recognize positions and speed of the vehicles (80) from bar codes which are arranged opposite to the scanners (60a and 60b) fixed at the chassis (40) of the vehicles (80), and transmit the data to a computer which is installed adjacent to the scanners (60a and 60b) for controlling the vehicles (80). The computer controls the driving motors of the vehicles (80) to thereby provide effects of performing accurate interval maintenance and preventing in advance rear-end collision and collision between vehicles under the control of interval and speed.

    • The present invention relates to a switch system for personal rapid transmit which offers passengers a non-stop direct origin to destination in a small on-board unit. The switching device is installed at a certain area in a network shape including main path and diverging path and merging path therefrom. The switch system for personal rapid transit comprises guideway (10) which includes rails necessary to travelling in its inside; small vehicles (30) which automatically travel on the guideway, including a vehicle chassis (40) equipped with guidance wheels which are inserted into the inside vacancy of the guideway; and electromagnetic switch means (70), arranged at front and rear of the vehicle chassis, which performs the switching operation so that it provides attraction force to the rail when the vehicle travels on a straight main path, and that it controls the vehicle to travel into the preset direction by making a close contact with the rail when the vehicle goes into the switch section. As a result, the present invention provides, for switching at short headways of one half second without moving parts on the guideway thereby allowing a high volumn of vehicles to be operated, a swift vehicle's travel even in the switch section of the guideway thereby offering passengers rapid transit to destination.

    • PCT No. PCT/KR97/00044 Sec. 371 Date Jan. 30, 1998 Sec. 102(e) Date Jan. 30, 1998 PCT Filed Mar. 24, 1997 PCT Pub. No. WO97/35757 PCT Pub. Date Oct. 2, 1997The present invention relates to a Personal Rapid Transit system for transporting passengers along a pre-set guideway, and more particularly relates to a future Personal Rapid Transit vehicle braking system. A conventional braking system can not provide the large braking force required for very short headway operation under the effect of weather and environmental conditions due to variations in the available coefficients of friction at the running surfaces. In particular, the Personal Rapid Transit which is a public transportation system can not adopt the conventional braking system since the vehicles are powered by linear motors and are independent of traction. The PRT brake system comprises brake reaction rails (120) mounted on each inside of the guideway and brakes (300) acting on these brake reaction rails (120) as calipers. The brakes are automatically actuated when electric power supply is cut off, and thus can serve as parking brakes and emergency brakes. Since the braking system of the present invention is supplied with power via the strain energy stored in steel spring members, no external power source for its operation is required. Furthermore, the system comprises a redundant failure monitored brake releasing unit (380) which is driven by duplicate redundant electric motors. Accordingly, the PRT braking system of the present invention represents a highly efficient fail-safe parking or emergency brake.

    • PCT No.PCT / KR97 / 00044 Sec。
