    • PURPOSE: To obtain the captioned base, material simple in transferring procedure and having clear transfer properties and a good masking preciseness, by applying a masking agent consisting of a specified synthetic resin and a plasticizer onto a heat- stable base surface so as to form a layer, and forming a thin film layer thereon.
      CONSTITUTION: The masking agent is prepared to include as major constituents a synthetic resin having a rubberlike elasticity (for example: ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, etc.) and a plasticizer such as dibutyl phthalate, etc. preferably in a ratio of about 6:4. The masking agent is applied on the surface of a heat-resistant base material such as parchment paper or the like to form a suitable patterned layer, which is treated at for example 120 to 170°C to be melted and then to become a film. To the surface and/or the undersurface of the patterned layer a thin film layer of a material, for example ethyl cellulose, soluble in a solvent such as alcohols is formed, so that the desired base material is obtained which has masking effect against wet or dry surface treatment.

    • PURPOSE: To allow a mixture of a resin component having rubberlike elasticity and solidifying in the presence of heat with a plasticizer to show a satisfactory filling action on an uneven part or a hole and a satisfactory masking action by adding a solvent to the mixture to provide fluidity.
      CONSTITUTION: A resin component having rubberlike elasticity and solidifying in the presence of heat, e.g., an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, chlorinated polypropylene or PVC is mixed with a plasticizer such as DOP, DBP, DOA or DOS. By adding ketones such as cyclohexanone, aromatic hydrocarbon such as xylene or aliphatic hydrocarbon such as kerosene as a solvent to the mixture, fluidity is provided to the mixture. The resulting masking agent is applied to a substance to be treated. The suitability to printing and application is decided by regulating the blending ratio among the solvent, the resin component and the plasticizer.

Thereafter, a variety of patterns are engraved in a variety of depth on the part corresponding to the printed or cut pattern by sandblasting. Further, the so-sandblasted concaved surfaces are coated by Metalicon or coating or the like and if necessary glazed, while fired and finished after the masking agent is removed, thereby the useful, ornamental or artistic value of the work, ceramic ware is remarkably raised.
