摘要： This invention is a transurethral radio frequency apparatus (12) for ablation of the prostate gland through the urethra formed by a urethral wall, a probe (14) consisting of a flexible elongate tubular member (10) having proximal and distal extremities and a cylindrical sleeve ablation electrode (76) formed of a conductive material carried by the distal extremity of the flexible elongate tubular member (10) and having a bore therein. The flexible elongate tubular member (10) is provided with a first flow lumen (41) for delivering a cooled fluid to the bore of the ablation electrode (76) and a second flow lumen (48) for returning the cooled fluid. Means are connected to the probe for supplying a coolant solution (26) to the probe, to suppply radio frequency energy (37) to the electrode (76) while it is being cooled and to monitor the temperature (36) of the ablation electrode (76) so that the ablation electrode (76) is maintained at a temperature below a predetermined temperature.

摘要： A catheter for measuring pressure in the urinary tract of a patient includes a catheter body having a proximal and distal end. A plurality of lumens is formed in the catheter body, and an adaptor is coupled to the proximal end of the catheter body. The adaptor includes a port for each lumen. A first pressure sensor, typically including a balloon, is fluidically coupled to a first lumen and is configured and positioned to measure pressure in a urethra of the patient. A second pressure sensor, also typically including a balloon, is fluidically coupled to a second lumen and is configured and positioned on the catheter body to measure pressure in a bladder of the patient. An expandable retention member, which may be coupled to a third lumen, is positioned on the catheter body between the first and second expandable pressure sensors so that the catheter body may be retained at a selected location in the urinary tract to properly position the fluid pressure sensors in the bladder and urethra, respectively.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention provide shaped masses comprising one or more drugs such as proteins or polypeptides and methods for forming such shaped masses. One embodiment provides a shaped mass comprising a drug such as a protein or polypeptide having a biological activity in the body of a mammal. The shaped mass is formed by compression of a precursor material comprising the drug wherein an amount of biologically active drug in the mass is a preserved above a minimum level. Drugs which may be incorporated into the shaped mass may include one or more glucose regulating proteins such as insulin, incretins; and immunoglobulins such as TNF-inhibiting antibodies or interleukin neutralizing antibodies. Embodiments of the shaped mass may be incorporated into a tissue penetrating member which is inserted into the intestinal wall allowing for the oral delivery of proteins and peptides which would otherwise be degraded in the intestinal tract.
