Une faible diversité lymphocytaire est en effet associée à un mauvais pronostic. Plus particulièrement, il est possible d'établir un seuil de diversité, dépendant de la technologie d'analyse employée et du cancer dont est atteint le malade, en-deçà duquel l'espérance de vie du malade est significativement inférieure à celle, en général, des malades atteints de la même pathologie.
