    • 1279601 Forming surfaces on substrates IBE Ltd 12 Aug 1969 [14 Aug 1968] 38864/68 Heading C3P [Also in Division E1] A non-adherent reinforced-resin floor surfacing is formed in situ on a new or old substrate by (a) covering the substrate with a non- adherent slurry comprising a sand or other filler in a liquid cold-curing thermosetting resin composition; (b) applying to the slurry, preferably while still unset, a reinforcing fibrous membrane-e.g. woven or sprayed glass fibre, nylon, polypropylene or sisal; and (c) saturating the membrane with the same or a compatible cold-curing thermosetting resin. In order to ensure non-adhesion part or all of the substrate may be oiled or be covered with a bottom membrane-e.g. of chopped strands. The resin composition may comprise an epoxy or polyester resin, its curing agent, and a curing-time diluent; the filler is preferably non-fibrous and comprises sufficient sand or bauxite to form trowellable slurry. The reinforcing membrane may be worked into the unset slurry by rollers. A polyester resin floor surfaces may be subsequently coated with an epoxy resin wear surface. The surface may be finished by various cast-on layers, adherent sheets, bonded anti-slip particles, decorative plastics flakes, polyurethane coatings &c.
