    • A source driver drives data lines of a liquid crystal panel in an inversion driving manner. The source driver includes multiple charge averaging switch groups in increments of pixel colors. Each charge averaging switch connects a pairing of the nearest two corresponding data lines assigned to the same color. These two paired data lines are driven with opposite polarities. In many cases, the nearest pixels assigned to the same color have the same gradation. Thus, by performing a charge averaging operation for each of the associated data lines that correspond to such pixels, such an arrangement provides a source driver having the advantage of low power consumption.

    • It is possible to enable a pointer to execute a shifting operation input and a clicking operation input by use of a common type pressure-sensitive pointing device provided with an x-axis strain sensor and a y-axis strain sensor. A pressure-sensitive pointing device (11) is provided with strain sensors (11a), (11b), (11c) and (11d). A voltage corresponding to the strain along the x-axis direction, and a voltage corresponding to the strain along the y-axis direction are outputted from nodes (11e), (11f) and (11g), respectively. The voltage corresponding to the strain along the x-axis direction, and the voltage corresponding to the strain along the y-axis direction are inputted alternately to an operational amplifier (4) by switches (SW1) and (SW2) when a switch (SW3) is in an ON-condition. The voltage corresponding to the strain along the z-axis direction is inputted to an operational amplifier (3) when the switch (SW3) is in an OFF-condition. Respective outputs of the operational amplifiers (3), (4) are alternately inputted to an ADC (5) by switches (SW4) and (SW5) and processed in a digital processing circuit.

    • Enhancement of responsiveness of a pressure-sensitive pointing device can be realized without deteriorating the performance for removal of low frequency noises. A voltage corresponding to a strain along an x-axis direction of the pressure-sensitive pointing device (11) is amplified by an operational amplifier (3), passes a switch (SW1), then it is digitized by an ADC (7) before being inputted to a digital processing circuit (2). A voltage corresponding to a strain along a y-axis direction of the pressure-sensitive pointing device (11) is amplified by an operational amplifier (4), passes a switch (SW2), then it is digitized by the ADC (7) before being inputted to the digital processing circuit (2). A switch (SW3) is turned on for a predetermined time upon the switchover between the switches (SW1), (SW2) and the output sides of the switches (SW1), (SW2) are connected to a capacitor (6) having large capacitance. The capacitor (6) is charged or discharged at a response speed corresponding to drive capacities of the operational amplifiers (3), (4), so that the voltages corresponding to the strains along the x-axis direction and y-axis direction rapidly reach a given value. Upon elapse of the predetermined time, a low pass filter made up of the resistor (5) and the capacitor (6) removes the low frequency noises.

    • A transmission method is provided for transmitting image data having pixels each comprising multiple sub-pixels provided for respective colors. The luminance of each sub-pixel provided for the corresponding color is represented by m-bit (m is an integer of 2 or more) luminance data R[m−1:0], G[m−1:0], and B[m−1:0]. Mapping is performed such that the bits provided for the same color at the same bit positions selected from the adjacent n (n represents an integer of 2 or more) pixels are sequentially arranged in the time direction so as to form a data unit. Data transmission is performed in units of data units (bit sets) thus mapped.

    • A load is commonly driven by means of operational amplification means which buffers an input voltage and produces an output voltage; and by means of output acceleration means which outputs a large electric current greater than the electric current output from the operational amplification means when a voltage difference of a predetermined offset voltage or more exists between the input and output voltages. As a result, when a change has arisen in the input voltage, the electric current is supplied to the load primarily from the output acceleration circuit until the difference between the input and output voltages becomes the predetermined offset voltage or less. Subsequently, the electric current is caused to flow to the load from the operational amplification means until the input and output voltages become equal to each other.
